Comedy Classic Stands The Test Of Time

This is one of the great comedies of the 1960s and it's still a hit all these decades later. There is a comic chemistry between the main characters that is rare, and it's probably Woody Allen's best writing.

Terrible movie

You would think that with Jackie Gleason, it would have been funny, but Jackie Gleason himself wasnt even funny in it. Just to think that Gleason was first picked by Norman Lean to be Archie Bunker before Carol O'Connor. Thank God we got Carrol O'Connor instead.

Funny satirical comedy with great characters

This is a lighthearted farce with great chemistry between the main characters played by Gleason, Parsons and Bessell. And a great satirical send up on the cold war. Very funny lines from Woody Allen, made funnier because they weren't delivered by him, but instead by real comic pros. It is still funny, more than fifty years later.

Weird weird movie. Bad story, bad acting. We rented it by mistake and decided to watch it anyway.

Not as good as advertised

Not up to its hype. While the writing was supposed to be stellar, it fell short of similar movies of that era. Of course Gleason was overbearing. I bought it, then sold it back to a local charity. It's a one-time "see" and no more.
