Don't Look Now Kindle Edition
A homicide detective in the dark. A serial killer on the loose. Both have their obsessions in a nerve-twisting novel of suspense by New York Times bestselling author Mary Burton.
Austin homicide detective Jordan Poe is hunting a serial killer she fears is the same man who assaulted her sister, Avery, two years ago. The details line up: the victims are the same age, same type, dead by the same grim MO. Luckily Avery survived. But the terrible memories linger, making Jordan more determined than ever to stop this monster in his tracks.
Texas Ranger Carter Spencer isn’t one to poach on a detective’s territory. Yet no matter how resentful a capable lone wolf like Jordan is, when she is attacked at a third crime scene and suffers a trauma that leaves her with limited vision, it’s up to Carter to help Jordan navigate a world she no longer recognizes. He needs her instinct, her experience, and her fearless resolve to crack this case. A case that’s about to get even darker.
A stranger is watching. He’s closing in on his ultimate prey. And no one but the killer can see what’s coming.
“With plenty of possible suspects, Burton’s (Never Look Back) latest will appeal to readers who want light romance and heavy suspense.” —Library Journal

Jordan and her sister Avery don't have the best or easiest lives but when a serial killer is thrown in this mix it makes life a lot harder. When Jordan is injured things really take a turn .
Loved this bo!
If it wasn't for the romance and sex...this would be a 5 star book easy peasy. The killer in the book was unexpected because I thought it was someone else. The love thing didn't fit because the characters were total opposites. The drama was good though. The mystery was good. The characters were thought out. It could have been perfect. If only.
Definitely a 4 and not a 5 star
Speaking of the end, it was very rushed, it lacked optimism, and brought no closure other than solving the mystery. The relationship between Jordan and Spencer was nice but had the potential to be so much more. The single bedroom scene left everything to the reader's imagination and left me wanting more. I actually didn't find them to have chemistry that would bode well for the long term. Avery was a strong character and I was saddened by her treatment at the end. Again, no optimism for the characters imho.
I don't regret buying Don't Look Now but I know this author is capable of delivering so much more...just as she has in the past.
Totally my opinion but I wish her editor would catch some of the contractions that don't fit with the way the characters speak overall. I find them to make the characters sound much older than they are and stilted, and they distract the flow of the conversation. Again, just my opinion.
