Why Do Original Window Regulators Fail?
Power window regulators can fail for a number of reasons, including excessive wear of mechanical pieces, rust and corrosion.
In some models, poor-quality plastic parts become brittle and break, and poorly designed components bend and twist over time.
Why Are Dorman Window Regulators Better?
Dorman was one of the first companies to provide window regulators to the automotive aftermarket more than 15 years ago, and we've since become experts at making these replacement parts effective and reliable.
Our engineers examine why window regulators from the original manufacturers fail, and then find solutions for those failure-prone designs. When you see one of our parts with an OE FIX label, that means we found a common problem with an original equipment maker's design, and implemented a creative solution to make the part more reliable or easier to install.
We also have advanced technological capabilities that allow us to integrate increasingly complex technologies into our motors, including printed circuit integration and embedded software engineering.
And we test all of our regulators on actual doors from real-world car models, running them through thousands of cycles, examining everything from how long they hold up to how fast they go up and down. This is the expertise, innovation and quality assurance you can expect from Dorman Window Regulators.
This replacement power window motor and regulator assembly is precision-engineered and extensively tested to match the exact fit, function and performance of the stock window regulator on specific vehicle years, makes and models.

I was so happy to find this online and then I just had to watch a Youtube video online and my brother and I had the new one installed in about an hour and a half. We managed it without a torque screwdriver, though, just a heads up, it does make the job easier to have one. It took less time and less money to order this piece and install it myself than it would have sending it to a mechanic. I am sooooooo happy with my purchase!
Plenty of how-to videos on YouTube; even a slightly mechanically inclined person can do this, and save hundreds of dollars over shop rates!
You will need: a 10 mm socket, ratchet, and extention, a T35 torx driver, a set of picks, and a panel removal tool if you want to do this right.
The hardware you remove will be reused. Don't lose it!
And, a little bit of blue Loctite on the bar nuts and motor screws can't hurt. Not on the two screws that screw to the window, tho!
This would have cost well over $300 at the dealership. Hubby did ask me to come hold in place at one point so he could get it lined up, so a second set of hands is helpful. Also, it matters if your old regulator is riveted in or screwed in.
The repair process required basic tools and most importantly a torx screw driver.
As this substitution product has a connector at the end of a short harness (as opposed to the orih=ginal product which has the connector directly on the window motor) a couple of tie-ups were needed to ensure that the loose wire didn't get into the window glass' way.
All in all very satisfied.

Hand tools are sufficient to remove the old part and install the new one. The worst part of the job was freeing the vapour barrier enough to get at the mounting hardware. The whole job took me about an hour to do by myself.
