I was disappointed with an amateurish plot and TERRIBLE editing. No bueno... when your reader is catching spelling and grammar errors regularly throughout. It felt as if I was reading one of those new crappy serial authors that are making so much money on Amazon because no self-respecting publisher would have touched them pre-electronic publishing. I love Zahn and enjoyed his Midnight Train to Rigel series, so I am truly disappointed.

Still a good young adult series. I read 1-4 at least years ago and wanted to revisit the series and get to the end.

Tons of obvious OCR spelling errors though. Pm instead of I’m was especially egregious, and made it clear they are OCR errors rather than writing issues.

Once fully grasping the complexity of the intent.. purpose and characterizations of the story lines I grew to become immersed in enjoying the authors ways of bringing out playfulness as well as serious considerations of integrity and ethical decision making. a focus on the Art of Poetry being integrated throughout the book was especially creative making for my enhanced respect of the Author by giving the most prominent character the talent to relate critical themes by his well timed recitation of Poetry both
directly and as part of a dialogue.

Not so great if you are old adult. I was rolling my eyes during some scenes of the second book. And had to remind myself, this was written for 14 year olds. Good thing I caught this on sale. Maybe next time I should read the ad copy before buying.

Timothy Zahn is both a great writer and a mediocre writer at the same time. His Star Wars books are the best on both legends and canon, his Conquerors series was great, but I just couldn't get into this series. Its not a bad series by any means, it's just that I expect more from him.
