Inspirational, touching, heartfelt, great acting!

First off I’m as picky as they come when it comes to horse movies. I’ve owned and trained horses since 1985. I have a background in show horses and for the past few years I’ve gotten into race horses as well. This movie did not disappoint! As a horse person there are a few things you’ll notice that you know aren’t completely accurate, but aside from that this movie is outstanding! The acting was great, and in times like these who couldn’t use a good inspirational story of hope?! I am also relieved I didn’t have to go to the theater to see it. I hate going to the movies, so I didn’t mind shelling out $25 to buy it and watch it from my living room. It’s worth every penny!

Welsh Community Prevails Together to Overcome Set-Backs
Verified purchase
A community of Welsh underdogs need to find second chances in this entertaining, encouraging movie. A group of village folks rally together to breed and train a race horse, who does not disappoint despite hurdles on the race courses, including a life-threatening injury.

There are a few crass elements in this story of a Welsh community that struggle against set-backs but who prevail together while celebrating their Welsh heritage. The community works together to breed and train a race horse, but the process of working and winning together is more important than gambling to win monetary prices.

Although the movie is rooted in small community life, it has universally significant themes of valuing the following: community, family, marriage, nature, animals and more.

No bonding of horse and owner

There was very little about the horse and owners relationship. It just showed how she attained money to make money. Horses’ personality was not developed. Very very disappointing

An overlooked horse, an overlooked town, and a bunch of locals who weren't even sure if they should get behind either of them: that's a formula that's been used before but if it's handled well - as it is in this film - I never get tired of it. Very good and believable cast, excellent dialogue and pacing, and an ending that keeps the viewer unsure of how it's going to go until the very end at the same time you can't stop rooting for the unlikely heroes.

Well I was disappointed. Just when I thought they we're going to go this way-they go another way. I was not emotionally pulled in with the hoorahs of what was going in this movie at all.

Feel good movie with a finely crafted script

Here's a charmer! It's funny how stories of athletes (on two or four legs as they may be) adhere to certain narrative arcs and this film doesn't provide any innovation but nor does it pretend to do otherwise. Honest in its aims and very well acted, it's a fun two hours spent at the races.

Great story and a true one. Tears of empathy, tears of joy and tears of laughter. These wonderful actors take you on an emotional ride(excuse the pun). Most enjoyable movie I have seen in years. (Do turn on subtitles to help with understanding accents at times.)
