The Queller race has lived for millennia in isolation. However, a secret kept by the Queller senior elder and a few associates drives the elder to make contact with another race. Little do the Quellers know that they send a QASAP ship, an autonomous search ship, to engage the conclave.

Not detecting an aggressive society, Julien chooses to accept the autonomous ship’s invitation, and a small fleet commanded by Commodore Tocknicka follows the QASAP’s star map to the Queller home world.

The senior elder’s secret proves to be imagery of a fleet of alien ships, which have destroyed a QASAP ship. Julien identifies the fleet. The ships belong to the Krackus. The Imperium Empire has expanded to the extent that its patrol fleets encroach on Queller space.

Meanwhile, Admiral Cordelia, Julien’s partner, faces challenges of her own. The Krackus fleet was ousted from Helgart, and Cordelia must decide whether the human worlds can best be protected by permanently occupying the Helgart system.

If Cordelia chooses to take on the risky task of gaining a foothold in Krackus space, she must wait for the arrival of support fleets from other outposts.

On Imperium, the leaders are incensed about their fleet’s expulsion from Helgart. In the history of the empire, the Krackus have never lost an encounter with another race, and the leaders plot revenge on the alien interlopers.

From my early years to the present, books have been a refuge. They’ve fueled my imagination. I’ve traveled to faraway places and met aliens with Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Herbert, and Le Guin. I’ve explored historical events with Michener and Clavell, and I played spy with Ludlum and Fleming.

There’s no doubt that the early sci-fi masters influenced the writing of my first two series, The Silver Ships and Pyreans. I crafted my stories to give readers intimate views of my characters, who wrestle with the challenges of living in space and inhabiting alien worlds.

Life is rarely easy for my characters, who encounter aliens and calamities, but they persist and flourish. I revel in examining humankind’s will to survive. Not everyone plays fair or exhibits concern for their fellow beings, but that’s another aspect of humans and aliens that I investigate.

My stories offer hope for humans today about what they might accomplish tomorrow far from our home world. Throughout my books, humans exhibit a will to persevere, without detriment to the vast majority of others.

I Missed my review of book 4 so this goes for that one too. There is never a dull moment with the Gate Ghosts! This author is one of my very favorites of all time. I know it’s a bit repetitive but I wish there were a bit more description of the different species. I simply cannot remember all of them and want to visualize their uniqueness more as the story goes on. Eg the Hyronzy. Of course I remember the Meridians and Crocians but some of the outer species are fuzzy. I absolutely love what Julien Z and Miranda have accomplished and look forward to the next one. I wait with much anticipation! I remain a forever fan!

Jucha has an ability to create and develop characters in a science fiction world with out bogging the reader down in the technicalities of that world. It makes his work approachable by all readers no matter their interest.

In addition his work, while containing "evils" done, has an over arching theme of optimism, acceptance, and inclusion. The ideals of his antagonist are the ideals most of us would aspire to. That makes his writing uplifting. I quite literally leave every one of his books with a positive vibe, a general feeling of good.
