El detective de la policía de Chicago Sam Porter investiga el caso de un hombre atropellado, pues los indicios en la escena del crimen apuntan a que se trata de El Cuarto Mono, un asesino en serie que ha estado aterrorizando la ciudad. Su modus operandi consistía en enviar tres cajas blancas a los padres de las víctimas que secuestra y mata: una primera con una oreja, una segunda con los dos ojos, y otra con la lengua; y finalmente dejar abandonado el cuerpo sin vida en algún lugar.

El hombre atropellado llevaba una de esas cajas blancas. Se inicia así una frenética carrera contrarreloj para averiguar dónde se encuentra encerrada la próxima víctima.

Seller: please make sure you books doesn't receive direct sunlight. I'm very picky with my books and I almost returned the book. Other than that the book is awesome! I couldn't stop reading and finished the book in three days. I think that the key factor of this book is the dairy of the killer. To know him as a kid it was just magnificent.

Y por el otro la investigacion de los asesinatos que avanza a tropicones y consideramos que desde hace 5 años le seguian la pista, avanza lento. Un asesino meticuloso hasta el extremo, y que luego desaparece hasta su proxima victima.

Había oido hablar de esta novela que es muy popular y parece que tiene un final imprevisible. Pues me voy a quedar sin conocerlo porque al menos hasta un tercio de la novela es una novela de asesino en serie, sin nada nuevo que añadir. Me resulta muy manida, y me aburre tanto que me ha creado bloqueo de lector. Parece que tiene un final sorprendente y además da varios giros argumentales con las otras dos novelas de la trilogía, pero creo que yo no voy a averiguarlo. Paso. Para mi tiene baja calidad tanto literaria como la actitud y metodologia de los detectives que no es nada creible, sobre todo porque la única pista algo más fiable que tienen, un diario, la leen a trozos para bien de la trama, pero no sería lo que realmente ocurriria en una investigación. En fin, decepcionante. Es mi modesta opinión. No pienso leer nada más de este autor.

No soy el más fan de los thrillers pero este me pareció interesante. La trama es todo menos simple, intrincado y con buenos giros de timón que no decepciona. Lo novedoso: el diario que pretende devaluar los motivos del asesino que me parece fue algo superficial y no termina de develar la psicología del personaje. Lo bueno: el ritmo y el suspense de toda la novela que va acompañada del diario y pocas horas para revelar la trama. Lo malo: el autor da demasiadas pistas que terminan por develar pronto el desenlace. Creo que falto desarrollar la sicología y la personalidad de los personajes principales pero aún así es buena lectura. No se si da para una serie pero el final parece develar que así será. Quizá no leería sus secuelas. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
