Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies. My family needs closed captions or subtitles as we have a hard of hearing member. I was extremely disappointed to find out that there are no subtitles available on this particular dvd even though the back has the “CC” (closed captions) symbol.

A classic and maybe even a cure

Elf lifts your spirits with sweetness, humor and all around innocence. I don't believe anyone could have pulled this off except Will Ferrell. ( I hesitate to be so personal but I think it might help others to know - even the saddest of times for my family were elevated by this movie. We were all so relieved to know that we might actually laugh again, Elf did that for us and will continue to do so through the years.) Very grateful to all involved in the making of this movie, a classic and maybe even a cure...

We love this film, but this is a TERRIBLE edition. No subtitles or closed captioning of any kind, which makes it useless if your family is like mine and needs the subtitles for disabled family members.

~ Never Fails to Make Us Laugh ~ We Love "ELF" Parties ~
Verified purchase
Elf is absolutely one of our favorite Christmas movies and is definitely our favorite Will Ferrell movie. The last few years, at Christmastime, we have an "Elf" viewing party, dinner and a movie. We serve pasta with a few different types of sauce; a marinara sauce with meat, a HOT marinara sauce with veggies only, an alfredo sauce, a pesto sauce AND, most importantly, a bottle of syrup there with the rest of the sauces. We hang "Elf" posters around the house and have the movie going in a couple rooms, since we don't have one room big enough for all our guests. It's a lot of fun. We have the DVD but had to also purchase the digital movie this last year as well, since one of our TVs does not have a DVD or blu ray player attached. This movie is always good for a laugh or two and is perfect for making memories with your family and friends!

Appropriate for all "cool" family ages

Yet, another classic starring Will Ferrell... A seasoned SNL improv artist. As to not give away too much, a confused... And frightfully Glee human thinks that he is an elf. I'm sure you will be very surprised at the conclusion, or not. I am not biased, I believe my homie in pretend, Will, has been in one or two comedies in his time that has not complimented his style(but are blockbuster in their own regards)... however, this isn't the case for Elf. A holiday movie that joins the actual ENJOYABLE family Holiday movie collection that brings together generations, and fans that will spread generations. Will, you magnificent bastard!

Will Ferrell touches the wonder and joy of Christmas in all of us!

Seriously, how can anyone not love this movie? If you don't have this as part of your annual Christmas movies to watch, you are missing
a major joy in life. Bought if for my 92 yo mom this year b/c she totally fell in love with Will Ferrell and all his child-like innocent antics in this movie. It's worth it just to watch the dancing scenes.

My children had never seen Elf so this year we decided to watch it. Three teens and myself watched this show. We all agreed that it lived up to the test of time and it's a classic comedy.

Elf is about a young baby that is dropped off on a doorstep and ends up in Santa's workshop living as a very tall elf. After some time it is agreed he will go out in the world and meet his real dad and real mother. So off he goes to New York City. There his childlike innocence is delightful and it gets him into trouble in variety of ways. Over time he learns and even finds someone to love and he teaches others the joys of Christmas.

Will Ferrell did a great job and I can't imagine anyone more perfect for the part. This is a funny, cute, charming little show. It is going to be one we watch again and again in years to come.

My grandkids wanted to watch this movie when we were looking for something to watch on Amazon. They had seen it and I alway avoid it because it looked like a silly Will Ferrell movie. But because of my grandkids recommendation we watched it. Very funny and Will Ferrell was not too goofy and a little sad at parts. Surprisingly Good.
