Elmo's Learning Adventure
Elmo and other Sesame Street characters will guide your child through nine essential preschool subjects, identified through research by the early childhood experts from Sesame Street. All of the materials in each kit (the storybook, the activity book, and the activity cards) work together to reinforce the learning themes and help children acquire the skills they need to be successful in school. Plus, they are great fun for little learners!
What's in the box?
The Elmo’s Learning Adventure activity cards were written using the most current research on the ways children learn best by the Sesame Street team of child development experts. There are Conversation Starters as well as Play and Pretend ideas to extend the learning beyond the book, focusing on essential social-emotional learning for preschoolers.
To create the Elmo’s Learning Adventure storybooks, the editorial team at Sesame Street scoured their 40-year collection of thousands of Sesame Street books, identified and adapted those that best supported each of the Elmo’s Learning Adventures’ nine educational themes. Then, some additional storybook editions were created exclusively for this program.
The hands-on learning activities for the Elmo’s Learning Adventure activity books align with the educational themes of the corresponding storybooks in each Learning Kit. That way, in addition to reading, Elmo’s Learning Adventures encourages fine-motor skills like coloring, tracing letters, drawing, and writing. This multi-discipline approach helps solidify new practical skills for kids.

How do the different materials in the Elmo Learning Kits work together?
Every item in the Elmo’s Learning Adventure program is organized by the nine learning themes. Each storybook in the series reflects a key concept related to one of the nine themes, selected with the input from Sesame Street’s expert Research team. A related concept is highlighted for the activity book–one that ties in directly with an element of the storybook, either because of its overarching theme or a detail within the story for each package. The Learning Cards are the perfect tool to keep the learning going as families go about daily life. Quick Conversation Starters as well as Play and Pretend ideas are powerful to spark excitement in kids about new concepts, and they make it easy for parents to participate in the learning process. Reading the stories, then following up with the variety of activities included in each package will help to solidify early concepts for little learners preparing for kindergarten.

and my 5 year old already knows her alphabet and numbers by sight. There were some random flash cards that would have been nice if they included a full set. The box also came in damaged - this set is not packaged well. The height chart inside was damaged. I'll probably stick to Highlights because it has more fun, interactive things in their books.
I find the Sesame Street material to be well designed and able to keep my son occupied and interested in the topics covered. He just turned two years old and is really interested in letters/numbers, so the first two books were a great fit.
I'm debating on laminating the flash cards. They seem to be made of decent material (thick, yet flexible card stock).
