About Emily Long
Emily Long is the mama of two daughters gone too soon, a Grief + Trauma therapist, coffee shop writer, baker of bagels and consumer of hot cocoa, endless reader, lover of travel, and occasional hermit. You can often find her (pre-pandemic) at her local yoga studio cursing in down dog.
Emily is more recently diving into another favorite activity - baking and experimenting with recipes! Her first cookbook, For the Love of Carbs, was a sanity saving pandemic project and the start of a new chapter in life. She had always planned on baking being a "retirement career" but it seems this life-altering pandemic has moved those plans up a bit!
Emily lives in Burlington, VT where she counsels, does yoga, eats undisclosed amounts of pizza, bakes all the things, reads an improbable number of books, and is giving up her nomadic ways to sink some roots in this beautiful community.

In this book, dozens of mothers living without their precious children put their heart into words to share with other grieving mothers. Our hope is that in the darkest, loneliest hours of this life after loss, you will find some small comfort in the words of another mother who has been where you are now. When you feel alone, when you feel broken, when it feels too much to bear – reach for us and we will be there.
Our deepest desire is for you to know that you are not alone. We are with you. Although we desperately wish we didn’t have a reason to, we lovingly welcome you to our community of sister-mothers of loss. Let us wrap you in love and be a light in the darkness of grief.
Too often a father’s grief and experience of loss is overshadowed or unacknowledged after the death of their children. This book offers acknowledgement and gives voice to the experience of fathers grieving their children. The fathers speaking through these pages offer support and recognition to let you know that you are not alone. They are here with you.
Invisible Mothers gives voice to the experience of love and loss for mothers whose babies have died during pregnancy or infancy.
