Continuing where Empire Reborn leaves off, Uprising carries on with the sagas of Lexi, Kira, and the Sietinen family in their respective quests to uncover the horrifying realities of missing friends and sinister insurrections that threaten the very existence of the Taran Empire, in addition to the formidable threat posed by the Erebus.
It seamlessly combines political intrigue, science, and even ancient Earth archaeology with the loyalty, compassion, and support needed to persist in their tasks.
I highly recommend this book as a follow up to Reborn. Very much looking forward to the next book.
DuBoff is committed to the story and while sad to see some characters die in book 2, it completes the story, adds complexity to other characters, and opens the door to romance for one of our main characters. The story takes place on several different planets for the key characters, leading eventually to the meshing of what may have seemed to be coincidental in book 1. While written with political, scientific, social, and historical aspects, it is simply a good story told well.
DuBoff is the Queen of Space Opera simply because she writes a wonderful story, with complex characters, multiple locations, and intertwining plotsl . I recommend reading book 1 first, but you don't absolutely have to in order to appreciate this story. She provides a detailed summary of the story to date. While her prior series in the Cadicle Universe is definitely worth reading, it's not necessary to do so to understand and enjoy this new series - Taran Empire Saga.
By the way, book 3 is scheduled for next summer, so you do have time to read as many of them as you want to before then. It's a definite 5 stars series thus far. I think adults and older teens who are fans of space opera and science fiction will enjoy reading these.
Yet, what are they to make of a gift that is really much needed?
Yet, unknowingly, Lexi and Kira are also moving into discovering the very real threat, a much bigger threat anybody would have envisaged.
Then there is the Earth. The colony world that Raena is starting to think holds more secrets than she ever suspected.
Three different threads. Three compelling, attention grabbing plots, one heck of an interesting read.
