Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top operative, searches for a high-level mole with the power to rewrite the world order in this riveting thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author Vince Flynn, written by Kyle Mills.
Mitch Rapp has worked for a number of presidents over his career, but Anthony Cook is unlike any he’s encountered before. Cunning and autocratic, he feels no loyalty to America’s institutions and is distrustful of the influence Rapp and CIA director Irene Kennedy have in Washington.
When Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she assigns Rapp the task of protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets.
As the attacks on Ward become increasingly dire, Rapp and Kennedy are dragged into a world where the lines between governments, multinational corporations, and the hyper-wealthy fade. An environment in which liberty, nationality, and loyalty are meaningless. Only the pursuit of power remains.
As “one of the best thriller writers on the planet” (The Real Book Spy), Kyle Mills has created another suspenseful read that not only echoes the America of today, but also offers a glimpse into its possible future.

Kyle Mills outdoes himself again with this latest addition to the Mitch Rapp saga. ENEMY AT THE GATES sucked me in immediately. And once I turned the last page I wanted more. *Needed* more. If you thought TOTAL POWER was the best in the series so far, wait until you get a load of this banger.

Another review suggested long-time avid Rapp/Flynn fans (like me) should not read this book. I totally agree! I wish I hadn't.
Struggling to balance his new life outside of Washington, Mitch gets pulled into the middle of a saga different than anything he has ever encountered before. Not the Russians and not a Terrorist faction, Mitch deals with the threat coming from a very unexpected source.
I could not put this book down and lost sleep a couple of nights reading it. The book is full of action, drama and betrayal. All of the elements to make this a must read.

In Enemy At The Gates, Rapp faces new foes, inside and outside of DC, leaving him wondering if he should carry on in government service. A new administration and with it, a mole plowing thru a very sensitive database, looking for data on the world's first trillionaire. Rapp is asked to guard a man who cannot keep a low profile and won't stay put. James Bond devices, fast moving cars and choppers, deceitful characters, and a last minute plot twist you will not see coming. Happy reading.

A different kind of Mitch Rapp book.
Set outside of usual CIA/government environment, more independent, ageing and with doubts.
Chases down an African Dictator operating independently with Scott Coleman and his team.
Stretches credibility in some areas.
Not as strong as other novels in the series but passable and good to see Rapp as a character continue and develop into something more normal, ageing, with doubts, conflicting interests etc.
Fans will largely enjoy this short read ideal for the beach etc.

Assuming you can get past all of that, then the book is a good read. If you were to read this as a one off, it's 5*, but reading this after so many other of Mitch's adventures and it does appear he is some sort of reality loop

If this had been a standalone book with characters I hadn't spent 15 years reading about the overall premise could work but the change in some characters in this book is so out of place with the series I'm left hoping that the next book if there is one will be the last.
