Meljean was raised in the middle of the woods, and hid under her blankets at night with fairy tales, comic books, and romances. She left the forest and went on a misguided tour through the world of accounting before focusing on her first loves, reading and writing-and she realized that monsters, superheroes, and happily-ever-afters are easily found between the covers, as well as under them, so she set out to make her own.
Meljean lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter.
With more than 8 million copies of her books in print, USA Today bestseller Lucy Monroe has published more than 75 books and had her stories translated for sale in dozens of countries. While she writes several subgenres of romance (paranormal, historical, single title and short contemporary) for multiple publishers, all of her books are sexy, emotional and show that love will conquer all. She's a passionate devotee of romance and shares her love for the genre with her readers through her books and a policy of open communication. You can find Lucy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LucyMonroe.Romance) her Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/lucymonroeromance/), and her official website (http://lucymonroe.com).
Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora's family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in relative peace with each other. Surrounded by a menagerie of pets, friends, and a teenage son who keeps her quick wit engaged, Lora's life is filled with joys, aided by her fans whose hearts remind her daily why she writes.
She can often be found daydreaming and plotting and planning with the varied characters that fill her imagination when she isn't planning her flower gardens, watching the horses romp outside her home, or spending time with the family and pets she fills her life with. Writing is her passion, her peace, and her lifeline. She hopes you enjoy the stories, and that you visit her website www.loraleigh.com often for updates and news on characters and upcoming books

With the LL story, I guess (like many readers) I'd been hoping for one of the existing characters with an announced story to come to be the star of this one. Yes, it was interesting to see how Breeds are treated in Europe rather than the US (as in all the previous other books). But it was harder than usual to get invested in this story. I do get that (as with many of her anthology stories) its being used to help set up the next run of full-length books, but I just didn't enjoy this one as much as most of the others. Maybe the next book will help me appreciate this story better...but it'll be a while before I can read "Rule Breaker" since its the first of her books that I can recall being released in hardback.
The other stories were not worth the read. I struggled to even read them and in fact skipped entire sections of one of them. Painful to get through.
Save your money.

the other tales were better and more complete though obviously short stories.i was surprised by the Alyssa day story as it didn't really sound like my cup of tea.however,it was quite good and fairly original.it is an introduction to her new series,'league of the black swan'.it would have been better had it been more detailed and longer, but its an anthology, but it did pique my interest, so i may just have a go at this series.the first book is 'the cursed'.(3.5 stars)
the Meljean Brook story is part of her 'iron sea's series',which i admit i have not read.however, this was an enjoyable, perhaps not normally the sort of thing i read, but nevertheless it was a good story and perhaps the most emotionally engaging tale in this anthology.might be tempted to have a look at this series which had i not read this tale i would not really have given this series a second look.(3.5 stars*)
the Lucy Monroe tale is from her 'children of the moon' series.the author states that the stories happens in period between the 4th and 5th book in this series, and says that it is however a stand alone romance.i just couldn't really get into it and feel fans of this series will understand the tale more.their is a glossary of terms at the back of the story but that just wasn't enough for me to really get the world the author had created.this will not be a series i will pursue.perhaps fans may like it more?(2 stars*)
overall this anthology amounted for me to be merely an ok read.the winners and saviors in my opinion were by far the Meljean Brook and Alyssa day stories, which surprised me as i expected to enjoy the other authors more.i was disappointed though, even more so considering the price.on the plus side i have found two more series to give a go so not all was lost!

I gave it 4 stars because I liked it and will re-read it again.
The authors appeal to e.
