About Eric A. Shelman
Eric A. Shelman lives in southwest Florida with his wife of more than thirty years, Linda. Eric has been authoring stories since he was in his teens, and has been a fan of horror since he was a little kid. His room was filled with monster models, including The Wolfman, Dr. Phibes, Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and many others. All of this began to pour out of him in adulthood when he sat down and wrote his first fiction novel, A Reason To Kill. While that was a straight serial killer novel, he moved on to his true passion with The Witches of Laguna Beach, followed by Dead Hunger, which he wrote after a dozen-year hiatus from writing, back in 2009. Now he has over 20 books, all but two of which are novels.
In 2016, out of necessity, Eric created a pseudonym, Damon Novak. He wrote two books of a trilogy under this name, before completing book three in 2019 and revealing the ruse. The books are the Zombie War Chronicles, Onslaught, Convergence and Judgement.
He loves and cherishes his fans, and communicates directly with them on Twitter (AuthorShelman) and Facebook (CreateYourFate). Why not connect with him?

Blog postWow.
That could really sum up this weekend. Not so much for attendance or crazy sales, or anything like that.
For our friends. The people we've known by sight and word, solely from photographs and sometimes misconstrued posts on Facebook. I learned something valuable while there:
You can't judge anyone by their posts on social media. They are who they really are when you stand in front of them and exchange words. Or drink, or sing, or shout and flip the bir5 years ago Read more -
Blog postHey, welcome to Summer of Zombie Blog Tour 2016. Now I ask you all this important question:
What's a zombie?
But ... that’s not the real question.
The real question is, “What is a zombie to the specific author offering the story to the reading public?”
That’s important because as authors, we can’t know what every reader out there thinks about these transformed humans; we don’t know whether they see the zombie as symbolic in some way, or just6 years ago Read more -
Blog postSince I re-invigorated my passion for writing back in 2011, I have completed and released thirteen novels, written stories for three anthologies and had my novels featured in three book collections. It’s a great feeling. I’ve managed, with YOUR great help, to get my name out there as one of the indie authors to read in the horror genre.
Because my last name isn’t King or Koontz or McCammon – or even Barker – there are many readers who do not yet know who the hell I am. I’d love to c7 years ago Read more -

Jeffrey Clare, Danielle Pascale and the other admins have been really, really good to so many zombie authors out there. I'm sure even they don't quite understand how it helps us. Blog postYou know, some writers sit on panels and discuss the ins and outs of horror. Not sure I would be very good at that. Most of my ideas come to me while I'm doing mundane tasks that require little focus, like washing dishes or showering.
Cleaning stuff - or junk, as it were. I had a GREAT idea for a new book in the shower just this morning, as a matter of fact.
Anyway, my point is that I don't sit around and mull over societal conditions and political battle lines and dec7 years ago Read more -
Blog postI know we're already into May of 2015, and I've only released Dead Hunger VIII: Peace, Love & Zombies so far. BUT I have written two stories for some pretty cool anthologies. These aren't re-releases of books I've already written; these are brand new stories, and decent in length, too. There's the story I wrote for the Jack Wallen brainchild, Middletown Apocalypse, which features eleven authors all writing the same story but in their own styles. This may sound tedious, but every author i7 years ago Read more

Blog postHey, guys. Glad to be kickin' in 2015 ... I'm really hammering away on Dead Hunger VIII: Peace, Love & Zombies, and it's turning out WAY different than I expected. Nelson is an interesting guy, and I'm discovering that no matter how shallow a guy who likes to get stoned can seem - at least on the surface - he's as deep and complex, as tortured by the world he's been thrown into as anyone else.
Nelson has taught me a few things, and that's mostly that sometimes we put on a voice7 years ago Read more -
Blog postWow. This is coming fast, and the worst part of all?
I have NO idea how I'll be received. It's strange, going to a brand new place for the first time, particularly a convention like Days of the Dead. It's definitely horror-based, which is a must.
My last venture into the unknown, at least for me, was the Tampa Bay ComiCon. I had high hopes, and I did meet the likes of Jess Reed there - now a Facebook friend, and whose wife, Rachel, is now a character in my novels - but8 years ago Read more -

Blog postWell, you probably know that I’ve been working on Dead Hunger VIII: Peace, Love & Zombies. This is the Nelson Moore Chronicle. A lot of you have been waiting for this since you met the guy, but I don’t think you gave him enough credit to actually write a chronicle of his own until book #5.
Rest assured, he’s ready.
Now, at this time he’s in New York, and has to make his escape from Central Park and work his way safely through town. Can YOU think of a worse place to be whe8 years ago Read more -
Blog postI'm getting lots of requests for Nelson Moore's story. I don't blame you. I like the guy a lot.
He's a trip, and he reminds me a lot of my teenaged years growing up in Laguna Niguel, California in the 1970s. He sounds like Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, so if you're reading Dead Hunger, you should watch a YouTube video of Spicoli and try to have that voice in your head. It'll make it a lot of fun for you. (There is no Mr. Hand in the book.) Anyway, you'll meet him i8 years ago Read more -

Titles By Eric A. Shelman
1. 12. 11. Do the math. It all works out to rock and roll; zombie style.
A Little Girl's Terror:
By April of 1874, nine-year-old Mary Ellen Wilson had been beaten, cut, and burned by her foster mother for more than seven years. She had never once been allowed outdoors, her keeper locking her inside a tiny, dark closet while she was away. In the coldest New York winters, the child slept on a piece of carpet on the floor, only a threadbare quilt to warm her.
A Caring Woman's Determination:
When a concerned social worker named Etta Wheeler learned of the child's plight, she made appeals to the police, church, and the courts, but with no success. "Don't interfere between parent and child," they said. While others may have given up, Etta was determined to help little Mary Ellen.
An Unlikely Hero For An Abused Child:
In a desperate last resort, Etta went to Henry Bergh of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Would this man who was so kind to animals help? Surely the child had the same rights as a defenseless, abused creature. Bergh heard Etta's story, and the events that followed forever changed the course of child protection in America.
Forgotten for over a century, Shelman and Lazoritz bring the story of "Little Mary Ellen" to light for the first time since it appeared in the pages of the New York Times, the Brooklyn Eagle, and the New York Tribune in 1874.
To come home.
They missed Lula and the first place they shared together. They vowed to teach their adopted son Colton how to be as strong as Trina and Taylor, and their late son, Flex Jr. Since the zombie hordes fell dead in the streets, consigning the land to the living once more, people began migrating back to communities like Lula. The small towns were where life’s burdens could be shared. Familiar establishments like Three Sisters Bar opened again, and citizens bartered for goods and services with neighboring towns. It was almost like real life again.
But good things always seem to crumble under the weight of so much happiness. When Max and Isis begin getting the old psychic twinges that draw them southward, they investigate, discovering the citizens of Athens, Georgia know something they haven’t shared with others. Unfortunately, their secret could kill everyone.
The Mothers have returned, and they have created a massive new horde of Hungerers. Only this time, they’re different. Dangerously so.
Why not join our old friends Flex, Gem, Hemp, Charlie, Max, Isis, Rachel, Nelson, Dave, Serena, Trina, Taylor, Doc Scofield and the rest of the badass family of survivors as they face down the remnants? It’s bound to be a good, zombie killin’ time.
And it worked.
...exactly how I’d expected.
Mu. Ha. Ha.
The reading public was surprised how well it worked. I was not. Why? Because there is some seriously good talent in the genre. Talent that could pull off what most would have normally considered an impossible feat.
And here we are again. This time around we have some new writers, a new setting, a new premise (building slightly from the first), but the same idea...a collection of talent setting out to illustrate not only the power of “story”, but the power of the writer’s voice.
I hope you enjoy the second edition of Middletown Apocalypse.

THE CLEANSING HAS BEGUN.
Since 2011, Flex, Gem, Hemp, Charlie and their families have struggled to survive in a world gone dead. Nearly twenty years later, at the dawning of 2029, they are under siege yet again.
After more than a decade of relative calm in the fortified city of Kingman, Kansas, A new onslaught of the walking dead has our heroes struggling to understand the reasons behind it.
There is no time to come up with a plan. The fences appear inadequate and the Mothers and Hungerers are dead set on getting to the nourishment within . . .
Everyone must band together and use their skills if they are to defeat the hordes of walking dead.
Join them as they give it their all ... one last time.
Now Flex Sheridan and Gem Cardoza must do all they can to protect Flex's six-year-old neice Trina and find ways to survive a massive outbreak that has caused most of humankind to metamorphose into the walking dead.
Enter Hemphill "Hemp" Chatsworth. He is a scientist who has expertise in epidemics, as well as a mechanical engineering degree. He's doing all the important work, setting up a mobile lab in which to experiment on the zombies and learn what drives them. But he must also learn what will defeat them.
Charlene "Charlie" Sanders is a punk rock-loving, crossbow-wielding firecracker who rivals only Gem Cardoza in her sharp wit and fighting capability. She'll join with Hemp in his lab to help him learn what they all need to know in order to stay safe.

Nelson Moore, the lovable stoner, takes over the telling of this, the eighth installment in the series. What he shares is terrifying and surprising.
After encountering the living dead in Central Park, Nelson must escape New York City and get to his grandfather, Jim Scofield, in Concord, New Hampshire. With his mellow, sweet demeanor, nobody could have predicted what this kind-hearted man went through on his journey. Concord may only be hours away, but plans have a way of crumbling during a zombie apocalypse.
As Nelson works his way through the dangerous streets of New York, he encounters other survivors; some friends, some strangers. Compassionate and unable to ignore people in need, Nelson sacrifices his plans to help others. The resulting madness will build the character you first came to know and care about in volume four of these chronicles.
Gem Cardoza asks Nelson to tell his story, unaware of the horrors he went through on his journey across the country. Nelson reluctantly agrees and leaves nothing out, from the fates of his friends to each terrifying encounter with the walking dead.
If you thought Nelson was interesting before, this will change the way you see our long-haired, scooter-riding friend. Sit back and dig in. Maybe pack a bowl, too.
It may help set the mood.

Over a dozen years have passed since a massive storm devastated Whitmire, South Carolina.
Settling in the town of Kingman, Kansas, our survivors press on, creating a community where people can live and thrive. Of course, there are unique defenses as one might expect.
Max Chatsworth and Isis Gammon are Hybrids; special beings borne of the apocalypse who have recognized a building threat. Somewhere to the northwest of Kingman, a horde of the walking dead awaits, and despite their efforts, the creatures resist the far-reaching summons of the Hybrids.
To do nothing could ultimately result in an onslaught so brutal and overpowering that nobody in Kingman would survive. If the Mothers and Hungerers will not come to Kingman, Max and Isis must make the harrowing journey northwest to seek them out and destroy them where they stand.

A Storm Is Brewing . . .
Some of our old friends have returned home safely, to be with the ones they love and trust. Even as their warm greetings of welcome are offered, another threat builds on the horizon. It enters their home in the form of a little girl.
What the child visitor carries within her is an adversary as single-minded and deadly as the zombie hordes themselves. It is known to have existed over 350 years, and it takes life without consideration of age or innocence.
At the same time, another female child, unable to quell her siren call, beckons the Mothers. They, in turn, gather the Hungerers to follow.
Join our family of survivors once again, and prepare to brace yourself against the coming onslaught.
Wealthy philanthropist Arthur Wells, in need of a family getaway with his wife, Joan, and his daughter, Emma, arranges a trip to Romania. His intention is to explore an ancient cave system he read about, located in Constanta, on the Black Sea coast.
The name of the cave, unearthed in 1986, is Pestera Movile. It has been sealed from the light of day for over five-and-a-half million years, preserved beneath more than 20 meters of clay. Yet, despite the toxic environment and the lack of light and oxygen within, life forms thrive - all of them blind and colorless. Many are carnivorous.
Most are found nowhere else on Earth.
In this harsh, chemosynthetic environment, Arthur stumbles across something he hopes will advance medical science. Unbeknownst to his guide, he takes a sample of the strange flower.
Arthur Wells has no way of knowing what Emma's Rose is about to unleash upon the world.

The Road To California
We used to believe that mankind contaminated the Earth through our use of oil, coal and other non-biodegradable consumables and pollutants. We never once considered that the planet might one day contaminate us. But that's what happened.
Over a year has passed since an ancient gas started seeping from every surface of the planet. Nine out of every ten humans have since transformed into walking dead creatures with an insatiable hunger for human brains and flesh. We, the survivors, are now food for the afflicted … and we are vastly outnumbered.
So, while it would seem to be an improbable time for a road trip, don't tell Dave Gammon that.
Dave has fought alongside Flex, Gem, Hemp and Charlie for almost a year as they struggled to survive each unpredictable dawn in their horrifying new world. Now Dave has a new mission: to carry out the plans he had made with his late sister, Lisa.
He and Serena will forge their way from Whitmire, South Carolina, all the way to Dunsmuir, California, where Dave hopes to find his uncle – quite possibly his last blood relative. Dave is determined to find out whether his “Uncle Bug” is dead or alive ... or something in between.
But it's a long way from South Carolina to northern California, and with the hordes of walking dead between our group of travelers and their destination, it won't be easy.
Our friends have no idea that a young goddess awaits them at the end of their journey ... nor do they know whether her allegiance lies with the living, or the undead.
