The Artist who created "The Snowman" His parents support made him everything he is! A stand up guy!

This movie was great. Story about Raymond Briggs (the man who created/Illustrated "The Snowman" in England some years back) It focused on his parents who raised him as an only child (he arrived suddenly after many years trying) He focused on their working class jobs and hopes and wishes for a better life for their son. He ended up in art school despite his parents wishes for him to get a job "that would really pay." He ended up working on many books, shows and projects known and loved worldwide. Not bad for the son of a lady's maid and milkman! Very emotional portrayal of common folks with common jobs whose sense of humor and love raised a good lad who paid it forward through his emotional work. He knew his parents would be too embarrassed with his honesty. But he pictured them as they were, though wars and loss and achievements. Really fine people. ***** stars!

Sweet and Wonderful!

Absolutely delightful! As a half-Brit, I was so interested in watching James Brigg’s personal tribute to his parents and the opportunity to experience their “world”, as my grandparents went through the same sorts of things at the same time. The simplicity of their life and the enduring hardships - yet steadfast love they shared for decades - is sweet snd humbling, and a joyous journey. It touched my heart.❤️

This was actually really depressing.Hence the era.And i get it he wanted to do this in memory of his parents but I just didnt care for it. I was bored and I wish i didnt know now what a sourpuss Mr. Briggs was and that he DIDNT like children.Poo Poo. I will always love the Snowman though and will pretend i dont know this other stuff when i watch it.

The Family's Story & Great Animation
Verified purchase
I love this so much mostly because it's all true and takes you to a time in History that most have forgotten. Although, the struggles are real, in my opinion, the emotions and sacrifices of this family are just as important to this point in time. YOU wont be disappointed in adding this to your collection if not for this family's life throughout the years, than for the almost forgotten animation, I watched this 3 times just to see it all. If you like animated films, this is a definite.

A Wonderfully Touching Movie

I love the charming illustrations of real people (movie based on a graphic novel the artist did about his parents). It goes from their first meeting, until the end, and shows a lot of the history of their lives. Truly delightful. (The score, too, perfectly fits the movie.)

This is a very sweet movie and nice for the entire family. The animation is good and the story line takes you into the life of those living in England. We loved this movie.

Do you know his video, The Snowman.

If you bought yourself a copy of The Snowman, you're probably in my demographic and will watch this one more than once. By the way there are two versions of The Snowman. One version has the theme sung by a boys choir and the other version is instrumental. My first purchase (VHS) was without so of course the second purchase (VHS) was choir included. Do own the DVD version.
