Shade is trying to recover from her ordeal in the Unseelie Court. Darren's torture is incredibly hard to come back from. So there is that. Also she seems to have lost her magic and she is always cold... Will she ever be okay again? What happened to her magic? Will she ever feel whole again? Or will she remain broken and frozen inside and out despite the best efforts of Dylan and Soap? Has Aveta already won by destroying Shade?
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy a little horror in their dark fantasy with lots of intrigue, suspense, action, adventure, betrayal and quickly shifting loyalties along with a dash or two of forbidden romance :)
We've come to know Shade, watch her grow into her powers, her conflicts, being captured, and now of all things, she is marked. But by what and is it really so bad? She learns so much in this continuation of the Dark Faerie Series.. She connects with her family in ways that are unimaginable and yet seem so right. Her mother Jade the most important of all for what she remembers. Does she find true love this time out, with Dylan,Soap or is there another. The Ice King has plans of his own for her, and his one true love. Will Shade help Corb, can she free herself and make things right so she can claim what is rightfully hers. What is it going to take for her to right everything that has been wronged, how will she survive the loss of someone that she loves. Will she give up, will she fight to the end?
Each book in this series draws you further and further into this world. Leaving you on the seat of your pants the whole way. Will they win the war that is raging?
Then with everything going on around us, who can we trust. Not the ones we thing apparently. We just never know and that is what makes this the perfect story. Love it.
This is a series you will want to keep reading from book to book. Come enjoy the ride with me.
Until Next Time... Tabi
Book 3 in the Dark Faerie Tale series Ever Winter kept up with the consistent pace set by both Ever Shade and Ever Fire. Seeing the progression and maturation of the lives of the characters within these stories keeps me coming back for more all the time. I'm soon going to be caught up and may I be blessed with patience at the point while I wait for the next.
Ever Winter finds Shade trekking in search of the Ancient Ice King, making some pretty important personal life decisions, finding even more people she can trust, and those she can't (seriously ... did you [Purdy] have to make those 2 kind of untrustworthy?), finding her way to her rightful place in the land of Faerie and ultimately facing the loss of someone she loves and finding more strength and power than she knew she had.
But, yet again, the tale ended before I was ready for it to so obviously I'm going to have to get started on Ever Wrath right away.
Happy Reading :-)
And what a quest it was. ACTION packed. Shade never gets a moments peace poor girl. There are twists and turns in this book that I did not see coming. These books keep getting better and better and better. I love them.
How many are there going to be Alexia? Cuz I want, need, no DEMAND more!
Alexia's strong point as a writer, is her writing. She doesn't need typical tricks to lure readers in. She weaves a magical, hypnotic spell with her words and then blows us away with her epic skills. She really, really shines when writing action filled scenes and this book is not short on them.
Shade just keeps growing, and getting stronger with each book. Magically and mentally. She is really turning into a great character. The romantic tension in these books is really great, and we don't even toe the line of NA. This is clearly in the YA lines. Nothing sexual done, or even implied other than some steamy kissing scenes. Boy are they steamy too. ;-)
Overall, in my opinion, the best of the series yet. I am in love with it, and want to re-read it some day soon. Also, will be buying the autographed copy for my collection.
**I received a gifted copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. This review is 100% honest and 100% written by me. There are no quotes in this review because parts of it a subject to change.
