I'm thrilled with its performance right out of the box, & how much storage space it quickly freed up. The small size of the shreds is good too. I now have five 13 gallon garbage bags full which I'm going to use in the cat's litter box. Once he's done with it, anyone who steals our garbage to reassemble the shreds must truly be desperate.
I'll update this review if it develops any issues.
This shredder is much quieter than my old shredder, the noise level in my basement with the washing machine running is 40 db when the shredder’s cooling fan is on, the noise is at 51db from 2 feet away same noise as my office. When shredding it is at 67db. Performance is unbelievable. I used it to shred years worth of bills and marketing mail. I filled 12 kitchen garbage bags without the machine stopping once. It worked for 4 hours straight. I had the mail piled up in boxes, it really didn’t get much rest, but never overheated.
There were a few instances where I put envelopes that were too thick. Once it sensed the thickness, it reversed direction automatically. I just opened these letters and fed half of the papers and they were chewed effortlessly. I shredded cards, letters, letters with cards inside. No problem.
The good: no stop and go. Quite. Good bin size.
The bad: feels flimsy, not a deal breaker. The sensors are in strange places, if you put a regular envelope all the way to the left, it will stop since there is no sensor there, but if you put two letters side by side, no problem. There is a sensor in the middle and one in the right but not in the left side of the feeding slot.
The bottom line: I love this shredder. It is by far the best shredder I’ve come across. I recommend it highly. I’ll post an update in a few months.
As previously mentioned, I owned 2 C169s over the last couple years. Both were awesome but unfortunately met the similar fate of cracking apart. Ordinary, this is where I’d cut ties with a brand/company but because Bonsaii provided such stellar customer service the first time I needed a replacement (which they were happy to do) I decided to reach out to them.
I received a quick response to my email to the company and even had the pleasure of working with the same Bonsaii Customer Support rep that helped me before. As the second shredder was no longer under warranty, they could not simply offer a replacement like they did with the first which I understood and expected. However, what I didn’t expect was the Bonsaii Customer Support Rep to be genuinely empathetic to my situation and actively seek a positive outcome for me. I was offered a discount on replacement and was even provided suggestions of their shredders which might better fit my needs that I shared with them.
As I stated in my previous review, it is easy when for a business to provide seemingly excellent customer service when things go perfectly. However, it’s a true testament to a business’ character to continue to do so when things go wrong; especially if they went wrong again. For this reason I decided to stick with Bonsaii yet again for my shredding needs.
This model is smaller than my old, office supply store model. It is nice looking all around so that you can leave it by the side of your desk or fits underneath a cabinet without taking much space. As far as the noise level, it's loud but it is a shredder. I feel this a great value and would recommend this product.

There is nothing I don't like about this shredder but here are a couple of important things I do like about it. First and most importantly, the enclosed bin or paper collection area. Some shredders have wired mesh style containers, these are awful as you will get paper 'dust' the bin on this Bonsaii shredder is totally enclosed, no dust escapes, ideal for a home office enviroment.
Secondly the container size, believe me size does matter when it comes to a shredder, this at 17 litres this is a perfect size, you won't find yourself having to empty it as often and although it might sound a minor thing now it is so annoying when a shredder needs continuously emptying.
Some cheaper shredders are literally a basket or bucket with a shredder unit situated on top, this isn't, it is a proper unit with a bucket that slots in and out of a casing structure with ease. The kind that have units sitting on top of a basket or bucket are messy when it comes to emptying, really avoid those if you can.
The Bonsaii Evershed states it will shred 14 sheets at a time, this is probably true if you have low GSM paper but I doubt it would shred 14 sheets of 120gsm at a time. I put through around 6-8 sheets and it eats them with ease. Whilst it might not seem that important having shredders that says it will shred less please remember the ability to shred less at a time will mean a lesser strength motor
If you need a very good home office shredder then this fits the bill perfectly, pay much less and you won't get the important features like enclosed large capacity bucket and the ability to shred 14 sheets at a time, pay much more and ask yourself what extra are you getting, if you want a paper shredder that shreds paper and works why spend much more.
Its a bit sad to be excited over a shredder but the removal off the frustration of not being able to do a simple task like shredding is absolute bliss.
like to see the cutting oil sold with the machine. Some people including me did not know that oil should be
used every so often. Back up is good with help ready if needed. Delivered on time and in good order. I think a
good buy. this is This is another review 10 days later. My machine began thumping at the top, the plastic top
had as mall crack in it. I assumed some paper had built up and was stuck to the cutting blades. I emailed the
company who said I must video the problem and send it to them. Looking at the machine on video the problem
could not be seen, besides I did not have equipment to do this. I decided to look at the machine myself. What I found
was a plastic blade cover that was not secured, there were three long thin bolts that had been bent by the cutters
that was causing the problem. I found that there was no where to fit them. They were very bent and so I removed the one cover put the machine back together and it is working fine. With the makers office in Singapore and in the light
of what happened I will always buy British wit the British back up in future.
I have had number of lower cost shredders in the past, all of which eventually give up if worked hard.
Not this Bonsaii, we have shredded years of old finance docs & pay slips going back 20 years in the last week, it just minces them a dozen at a time.
Also has a decent sized bin for all the finely chopped paper so it will run happily for ages.
We also tried it on CDs and plastic cards, again no issues.
Definitely a great buy.
Had lubricated using their lube sheets, never used for cardboard or more than 4 sheets at once.
One year on and item is falling apart inside, now makes noises and clogs up due to parts missing. Never shredded more than a couple of sheets at a time, so has certainly not been overworked.
