I love this cookbook. I am not sure what others mean when they complain about the lack of photos, but I honestly think the book is filled with beautiful tempting photos of finished recipes. This book is a departure from Rachel Ray's usual cookbook, but it is a well thought out and creative work that will (I think) become a kitchen classic. I cant wait to try Grandpa's chicken stew or the many, many other recipes that fill the volume. I'm looking forward to serving lots of delicious Rachel Ray Italian Sunday dinners to my family and friends.

Yes, the lack of pictures is very disappointing. My largest issue is the juxtopasition of the down to earth, easily accessible Rachael writing a sophisticated, formal cookbook. I have not made anything yet but a lot of ingredients are classic Italian but they are not easily found in the Midwest, small, country town I live in. I feel Rachael's love, history and soul but I don't think I will be reaching for this book for anything but formal family dinners and in my family those are rare. I don't regret purchasing the book and maybe with the recipies on the show and really taking time to prep and use the book to broaden my comfort level.... I hope to fall in love with it. It has more heart and soul and truly feels like Rachael's labor of love, than any other cookbook I've ever seen.
