What started as a very enjoyable but relatively simple tale in the first book (The Expert System’s Brother) continues as a much more complex and multilayered story in this book 2 (Expert System’s Champions). I finally learned more about ancestors as well as about exotic forms of life on the planet that is toxic to human inhabitants.
The book pacing is just perfect. Every time I thought I have a grip on this fictional planet reality and set myself for continuing with an already a little familiar adventure the new revelation popped out and kept me glued to the pages.
The concept of symbiosis and coexistence of alien and human life was mind blowing and ideas how it was dealt with and how humans were able to survive even more so. All this on top of fascinating alien biology and gripping ideas of adaptation!!! The author made a superb job of describing foreign and difficult concepts the way that they were easy to absorb and made me craving for more.
In short; I loved it. If you liked “Children of Time” you most likely will like this book as well.
I just wish there were a few illustrations and hope it will be made into a movie.
