Jason Bateman stars as an ambitious business owner about to sell his successful flavor extract company, until a freak on-the-job accident happens. Filled with laugh-out-loud one-liners and raunchy comedy, Extract is 100% pure hilarity.

This film was clearly overrated! Not only was the film boring and the actors were horrible, but also some of the scenes played by Jason Bateman were racist and disturbing. In one of the scenes' Jason Bateman assumes that Brad couldn't be Mexican, because Mexicans could not be blond with blue eyes, assuming that all Mexicans are brown/ or of Native descent. In fact every country in America is a melting pot of immigrants from all over the world and, Mexico is not an exception. In Mexico, aside from the original Native people of the American continent, there are also as many people born there of European and, Asian ancestry as there is here in the United States. My final thought, is that this movie like a few others that are directed by ignorant actors and producers should be removed immediately from Amazon!
Excellent and I just can't believe that I had never k own that this movie had even been made before. I'm still, though, not an altogether fan of Director, here, Mike Judge.
I.just think that some Hollywood powerhouses, if you will, like him who not only write, but also direct, their own movies may have some ulterior motives, self-inferiority complexes (diagnosed or not), a sort of underlying disdain for, as seen in his movie Idiocracy, other races, peoples, other peoples supposed innate and-or hidden inferiority, children of, say, stereotypical "welfare moms," so-called Affirmative Action babies, so called White Guilt, and that the only way to try to rectify, make amends, for the latter, is to seemingly still throw in his movies a few "token" actors (mainly Black and Hispanic), here and there, so that he can, I guess, still go to bed comfy at night...
So, as a comedian once said (forgot who it was or I would give them credit, I want to say Bill Murr) "If comedy is not offensive, it's not comedy." In that respect, this was the perfect comedy. Obviously good actors are in it, they bring out all the stereotypes of each scene, lots of one-liners, and actually some science in it (like making fun of the people who get paranoid when they are st*ned). And it has 5 stars, I gave it 5 stars and not 4 because it was marriage friendly, if you know what I mean.
This is not fine art. I'd even go as far as to say it's forgettable but I always enjoyed Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis as well as a pretty good supporting cast. One reviewer claimed "RACISM!!!!" in their title. I saw nothing even close to RACISM!!!! in this movie but then I'm not a special snowflake hyper-tuned to be offended at any un-"WOKE" movie. This movie was easy to watch, somewhat amusing, mildly predictable and left no bitter aftertaste. If you enjoy semi-amusing comedies that don't require a lot of brain power and have no political message, this is a decent way to spend 90 minutes.
I know it might not be the best movie ever made, and probably not even the best Mike Judge movie that he made, but it was still good! Even though I laughed a lot during this, I appreciated that it wasn't always the intention. Also, who would have ever thought that you could get Gene Simmons to actually act? He wasn't amazing or anything, but he played his part as good as it needed to be.
Anyway, I gave this 5 stars not necessarily because I think it is a 5 star movie, but because there are so many 1 star reviews that I felt I needed to help sway the scale back to where this movie needs to be.
Mike Judge, I know you would never in a million years read a review of your movies on Amazon, but in case you do, I hope you keep making movies, man. I've enjoyed them all!
Someone else said this is "racist"... it's more than that, besides boring and extremely pedestrian. Seems like Mike Judge lost his touch, this is proof. You won't find a character in this one that you would ever root for. Poor plot, ruthless bottom feeders that aren't fun to watch.
Disclosure...I've never seen a movie starring Jason Bateman that didn't disappoint and make me regret all the time I spend watching movies. It's always a comedy that's just not funny, or a comic melodrama - if there is such a thing -that's too mellow, I dunno. This may be the first time I watched an entire Bateman movie, and I regret every minute. Mila Kunis and Ben Affleck did not help...well, Kunis just a little. And the actress who plays his wife, and looks like Jennifer Anniston after she'd been re-zeroxed 1,000 times...she was disturbing. Everything was disturbing. Especially the factory factotum, the Farmer's Insurance guy, totally obnoxious role in this one.
