The guide follows the standard Eyewitness format with three sections: Discover which sets the context of the region, its key sites by region, key interests by theme such as art, outdoors, music etc and its history; Experience, the largest section, which looks a sites by region including walks, recommendations for food and accommodation and so and; and finally Need to Know which provides practical information and is very brief indeed. You also get a map of Venice in a rear slipcover.
As I’ve noted, the book is very similar to the 2020 edition. It presents guide information is an accessible and attractive formats with the use of colour photos, maps and informative diagrams. In this particular guide I like the additional coverage which includes, albeit briefly, the wonderful city of Verona, Lake Garda, the Dolomites and more. The Vento section surrounding Venice itself also receives attention although again I’d like a little more detail. I think it’s a common theme with Eyewitness guides that although they are easy to use often you need an additional guide for in depth information.
Overall though this is another successful book from DK if not particularly new. Four stars.

The front cover is a pull out map of the Venice area. This book is split into 3 sections, Discover, Explore and Need to Know. It provides information on the different areas of Venice and what to do, see and explore in each of them. It has information on the history of the area, where to eat, where to shop, everything you can think of. In the back there is another fold out map of Venice, which can be removed and put in a bag or pocket. This book is a great size to take away with you, packed with so much information, pictures and ideas. It is a good overall guide, which will point you in the right direction of places to visit. I usually use a guide like this to get ideas then research things on the internet. A great guide perfect for planning your next holiday at a reasonable price.
