This is excerpt from an email I sent to Mr. Tamayo.
I just wanted to convey to you that I’m really enjoying your full swing and short game books and having great success. I have always had a pretty good short game which always kept me in the game but your method is nothing short of brilliant. As for “Finally: The Golf Swing’s Simple Secret” my first take away was how it removed so much of the clutter I tend to think about during my golf swing, Secondly, and even more eye opening was being able to create lag in transition into the downswing. I can’t tell you how I have tried to establish lag in my swing with little if any success but with your method for the first time it was clear and executable.
I will conclude in saying thanks for writing a couple of fine golf books that I wish I would have come across sooner but very happy I have them now.

This is a good book for anyone having issues with their game. I think that includes all golfers at some time or another. The keys that I gained were the connection of upper arms with body and simply turning your upper body back and through. Ball flight is straight and distance is good. Not a miracle move, no thought of playing on the Champions senior tour but it straightened out my ailing swing. Worth the read and effort.

Should be mandatory reading for any new or struggling golfer! I was shocked how at how great and simple the information was.

Should be mandatory reading for new golfers. I wish someone would have explained the backswing and lag to me like this when I started the game years ago. If you can just get the back swing part it will help most golfers games tremendously. I highly recommend the book for any golfers struggling with the full swing. It won't solve everything, but if you get a few simple moves/thoughts/feeling right that he explains, it will go a long way to making you a better ball striker. I admit it, I was surprised how enlightening the book was!

These swing ideas have me hitting the ball better than ever. The set-up, shoulder move, and light grip pressure make the swing unconsciously repeatable. Forget about your arms, hands, everything you've been taught to obsess about. I wish I'd had this about $5000.00 ago. That doesn't include time spent. I think anyone who has had some instruction in the basics of the golf swing will improve rapidly in their ball striking. The only time I mess it up is when I start thinking about what I should be doing. Hey, it's just 7-8 bucks. A sleeve of good balls (3) costs than that.

Excellent and straight forward. If you play golf this is a simple fix that yields exponential results. What is important about this swing is that takeaway should follow the slightly inside path he presents in the book. With this move and a very relaxed grip (key) and upper forearms pinned to the chest it's easy to hit mid-flight-trajectory slight draws,

I normally do not review many things but I have to make an exception in this case. Been golfing for some 50 years and am the owner of many golf self help books. Some have helped me in the past but golf is a very technical sport. This book is one of the smallest instruction manuals of its kind but I find that for me at least it is the most helpful one. I am not sure that it is for the new golfer as it does not contain instructions on the grip setup or other basics but it is not meant to be. There are many other books that do that. This book just focuses on two elements of the swing, the back swing and generating lag in the swing. It succeeds on both counts. With his back swing instruction I have eliminated many swing thoughts that worked against me while playing. If you follow his instruction it will take you into the desired slot for your club. I for years have had a very shallow swing plane that has hindered my swing. Although at times I have made it work ( 8 handicap) it is far from consistent. This book changes all that. It has put me into the desired slot to begin my downswing. I think that if you focus on his back swing instruction first it will help improve you ball striking and then you can proceed to his instruction of generating lag. Overall the best golf instruction book I have purchased.

I don't know how many golf books I've read, probably 50 or more. I also have watch dozen of golf DVD's and hundreds of internet video's.
This is the first book I've read that makes the swing simple and easy to understand. In everything I've read or watched, I've never heard the word "CLUB LAG". It makes total sense to me now. I just finished the book last night and cannot wait to get on the course and try it. I will give an update in a couple weeks.
I purchased this book for my Kindle at $4.99 which means it cost less that one drink at the 19th hole
Update
I just played two rounds this week. I'm mid 20's handicap that usually means my score is around 103-105
Both rounds, I came in with a 94. The important thing is not the score. It's the first time I can ever remember in all my years of hacking that I was around the green in two on most par fours. My fairway woods were amazing. If I could have chipped and putted good, I could have been in high 80's.
My wife read the same book and played with me this week to try out the swing. Her score went up and she played terrible .
Go figure. I guess some people adapt and respond to different things.

This book gives a simple and deceptively novel approach in respect of golf: the instructions are simple and the methodology uncomplicated.
Ok it's not for the low handicapper but is struggling medium to high weekend hero's.
The 2nd book for short game has a better read with good photographic explanations....really should have rewritten this first book with the same narrative outline.

Excellent read. Clear and concise with the information and easy to follow drills.
The shoulder turn drill removes all thoughts about how to begin the takeaway and whether you are on a one plane or a two plane swing. It also correctly puts you in the position at the top of your backswing of having your back to the target with weight over your trail side and not being in a reverse pivot position. Simple concept, excellent results.

An Excellent Golf Instruction Book!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 16, 2014Verified Purchase
This is one of the best golf instruction books I have read. It is easy to read - you can read the whole book in a couple of hours - and is very practical guide for anyone looking to develop a one plane swing. Since adopting the technique my iron play has improved dramatically - especially with the shorter irons 5-pw. If you currently swing the club on two planes it may take a bit of practice to master the shoulder turn but once you have got it you will notice a big improvement in your ball striking and distance. I am hitting my irons 10 yards longer than before I adopted this technique. Definitely worth the money!!

Well worth a read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 2, 2011Verified Purchase
I've been playing golf now for 40 years and in that time I've evolved my own ideas about the golf swing. My swing has changed from very upright to a flatter plane, and I now hit the ball better than I ever hit it in my youth. I'm using more of a one plane swing which basically means bending over more at address and rotating your left shoulder down and your right shoulder up on the backswing and reversing this process on the downswing - and using the big muscles to square up the clubface, not the hands. There is a very good description of the ideal backswing process in 'The Golf Swing's Simple Secret', I'm less convinced of his downswing secret but overall it is well worth a read. Jim Hardy's book 'The One Plane Swing' is required reading also for anyone like me who finds this technique useful.
