“Faces” was an interesting take on the classic victim/killer motif, but with a new twist – new to me anyway. Prosopagnosia is a real thing, apparently, but it was a novel and interesting take on the usual amnesia line. I haven’t seen Milla Jovovich do badly in anything she was in, and I wasn’t disappointed. Too bad that the overriding theme for her was fear and gasping and crying and limited her opportunities to actually act. Yes, I got it – she was repeatedly traumatized but there were times when she wasn’t traumatized. Anyway, the production values were good. The story line was okay, as said above, but the carry through left something to be desired. First, the deaf psychiatrist was a little too good at lipreading. Her replies were instantaneous, without a pause. Next, the detective pursues his carnal interest in the victim – way out of procedure – then, knowing she only recognizes him by his beard, he shaves. WTF? And as others have mentioned, she lost a visual ability, but she still would have been able to recognize voices and the smell of her boyfriend’s aftershave and her friends’ perfume. Near the end, in the scene with the passing bikers, the slip-shod police work was reminiscent of the Keystone Cops. Still it was not a bad way to pass some time, especially if your like Milla Jovovich, and the little twist at the end was nice.

I would've given this 4 stars except they messed up a couple of times in showing a strangers face for the detective's when it wasn't through Anna's eyes. Also as another reviewer said, she would have recognized the voices of her friends and her father, etc., but it didn't go into that.

Milla Jovovich/Anderson's good.

I think this is one of her better non Resident Evil movies, she struggles but not in a cliché way. I like her dramatic range here.

I'm shocked on some of the low reviews. This movie was good! It had a good story behind it , it kept you on edge had some shock and a plot twist. The friends I wasn't a fan of and your left questioning to what happened to the two children involved in some scenes 1 going missing and the other being traumatized.
