Kyle Mills' characters are always unique, but in Fade, he excels. Fade is my favorite Mills book, and I think, it has risen to the top of my all time favorites list. I couldn't put the book down, and it still tears at my heart even though it has been several days since I finished reading it. This is one that deserves to be read more than once or twice, and I will definitely be recommending it to others.

I started reading Kyle Mills books when he took over for Vince Flynn after he passed away. So when I was looking thru Amazon, I decided to see if he had written books before. This one sounded interesting, and it certainly way. Fade is the bad guy being hunted by everyone, but he is the hero of the story. Great plot.

Salam al Fayed has worked for Homeland Security but wants ot be left alone now. His old boss, Strand does not see it that way. Strand contacts the police that Fade has killed two brothers who do not exist so they will pick him up and then when he has time to think about it Strand will rescue Fade. Things don't go the way Strand has planned. One lie leads to another and things become very complicated. Karen who was the head of the swat team gets involved. His friend Egan is not sure if they will kill each other or what will happen. Lots of soul searching.

I read this book to become a little bit familiar with Kyle Mills before the new Mitch Rapp release. Then I checked some of the two star reviews to see if it was possible they read the same book. This was a very exciting book! It start fast out of the gate and never stopped for a breath. There is never any doubt as to who the main bad guy is and who the good and bad good guys are. There is a secondary bad guy who plays into it in the end. Some of the lesser reviews seem to be due to the fact that Kyle Mills is not Vince Flynn and has a different writing style. Well no kidding! It would be a bit of a surprise if it was. Read it and decide for yourself.

My main experience with Mills has been in the Mark Beamon stories, which I love. I took a chance on Fade (which is not a Beamon novel) and was not disappointed. Unlike less accomplished authors, who often bore you with lengthy contemplative back story and narration as a way to "develop" their characters, Mills does it mainly through serious and lighthearted, often humorous (including the gallows type), dialogue, which also keeps the plot moving forward. You will meet some new characters in Fade, some you love to hate and some you hate to love, but all people you feel you know well by the end of the book. Bravo, and keep them coming!

I found Kyle Mills after reading the Mitch Rapp novel he wrote following Vince Flynn's sad passing and just loved his character Fade.
I won't give anything away as I knew nothing about this book before buying it and loved every minute of it. I could not put this book down, full of action, humour with twists and turns that keep you turning the pages...so much so I finished it within 2 nights so treat yourself and settle in for a fantastic read. I can't recommend this book enough.
