I love the fact that when reading to my 4 year old daughter, she is learning new words and the meanings of each new word. Reading not only this book but other Fancy Nancy books has exposed my daughter to words she can use to expand her Vocabulary! In the back of this book are a list of Fancy Nancy's Fancy Words.... Vocabulary words that were used in the story, along with the meaning. My daughter and I practice at the end of the story... I say the word and she tells me the meaning (ie: Delectable = Yummy) Now what 4 year old would ever use the word Delectable,,, My 4 year old!
My kindergartener didn’t know what de nitely was (definitely), or why Nancy wanted our (flour) in her cupcakes. For a beginning reader this is not okay at all. How confusing for her.
