About the Author

Jane O’Connor is an editor at a major publishing house who has written more than seventy books for children, including the New York Times bestselling Fancy Nancy series. She resides (that’s fancy for lives) with her family in New York City.

Robin Preiss Glasser actually wore tiaras and tutus when she danced with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Now she happily spends her days in jeans, drawing. She has illustrated many acclaimed picture books, including the bestselling Fancy Nancy series. She won the Children’s Choice Award for Best Illustrator of the Year for Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet. Robin and her family live in Southern California.

Jane O'Connor is the author of more than thirty books for children, including the New York Times bestselling Fancy Nancy series, illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, and the Nina, Nina Ballerina stories, illustrated by Dyanne Disalvo-Ryan. Fancy Nancy was nominated for the Quill Award for Best Picture Book in 2007. Enter Fancy Nancy, which she loved before this book. It is a great book to help explain to a youngster about bullies. If you are experiencing bullying give this book a try.

I ordered this book for my 5 year old daughter because I thought it would be a good way for us to discuss this topic. I have 3 daughters and my oldest soon to be 20 and the youngest 2 years old are the feisty ones that I did not or will I have to worry about. My middle daughter is more sensitive and it gave us a way to be able to discuss how the mean girl was handled in the story and how she handles difficult situations. I must say she had some very good responses for me so the book was definitely a good investment :0)

Reading level was just right but the message was truly depressing. Fancy Nancy is picked on all through the book and the adults all ignore it. No lesson learned in this except your real friends will at least offer a cookie even if everyone else dislikes you.

This is a Xmas present for my 5yo but I have read it myself. I think this is a great book as it is about teasing. Nancy is not good at sport and the "mean girl" in her class is not being nice about it so Nancy is very upset but before the race she speaks to the mean girl and is assertive and all ends well. I think it is a subject that many little girls have to cope with and there is definitely a "mean girl" in my dd's class and I think this book will really help.
