Last of the original Fast & Furious series formula
Verified purchase
Tokyo Drift was different from the rest of the Fast and Furious series for a number of reasons. First it didn’t include the main characters Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Second it was not in the United States but Japan. Third it introduced the world to drifting. Fourth it featured Sung Kang who would become part of the regular cast. The plot itself is about Lucas Black coming to Tokyo from America where he runs into conflict with a fellow student Brian Tee who wants to be a gangster. Tee’s uncle is played by Sonny Chiba. Kang and Bow Wow are Black’s mentors. Like the rest of the franchise the focus is upon fast cars and women. It showed that the series had become a formula where you could plug in different actors and even change the location. It’s also the reason why they changed it up into an action series afterwards. Despite that limitation it was still a good film and if you like the other Fast and Furious you’ll like Tokyo Drift.

A review about the quality of the product, not rotten tomatoes

as fan of the series and this movie being my favorite for it's cult status more than anything. However my review is about the 4k aspect of this film. I was very surprised this movie could look this good. Having seen it in theaters in the bad quality it was shown in, this was true bliss. As if I was watching Han truly die for the first time. Recommended for anyone who has the system to display this masterpiece.

Lucas Black carries this movie!

Actor Lucas Black is the only actor even trying in this flick!
Fast cars, fast drift driving, good camera work covering the action.
But, if you are looking for a plot or story...F&F is not going to deliver much.

“Tokyo Drift” drifted me to sleep
Verified purchase
“Tokyo Drift” was so horrible that we could not even watch beyond the first 10 minutes. They did not put Paul Walker in it because they thought he was too old, but the 34 year old they put in as his replacement was absolutely horrible. The fact that Paul Walker came back in the next four movies tells you that they really messed up on this one. Don’t rent it, buy it, or even watch it for free at a party.

Worst of the Fast and Furious Franchise

This movie sucks. Far and away the worst movie of the 9 they've made. My son loves it for some dumb reason, so he keeps ordering it. He wants to go to Tokyo because he thinks that's all they do is drift. Whatever ... The movie sucks. No Vin Diesel, No Paul Walker, No Jordana Brewster. It was like a spin off that wasn't a spin off. If you're bored and need something to do, clean your toenails. Or wax the doghouse. Anything would be time better spent.

Not Just Car Chases & Races…A Good Story Too
Verified purchase
Apart from the 1st, Tokyo Drift is my favorite. The races/chases were excellent! Plus it’s a good story - I cared about these people. I’m sure I’m not the only gear head who was first introduced by this movie to the art/science of drifting!

Fast, Furious and new story. Yeah I know most people won’t like it because God for bid Vin Diesel is it in it...spoil alert… But this was actually a decent story and can stand on its own. Besides by the time the other movies rolled around this movie does have a connection to the others and not just Vin Diesel.
