Fated (Dark Protectors Book 1) Kindle Edition
Cara Paulsen does not give up easily. A scientist and a single mother, she's used to fighting for what she wants, keeping a cool head, and doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter Janie. But "whatever it takes" has never before included a shotgun wedding to a dangerous-looking stranger with an attitude problem. . .
Sure, the mysterious Talen says that he's there to protect Cara and Janie. He also says that he's a three-hundred-year-old vampire. Of course, the way he touches her, Cara might actually believe he's had that long to practice. . .
"Hot and fast from beginning to end." --Kate Douglas
From the Author
Everything in her stilled, and even her heart may have stopped for a second. She lacked the focus to block the feelings coming from him now. "What else?" Her voice cracked.
"Both races are born male. Only. Our mates are human. And Cara," his voice dropped to a rumble, "you're mine."

I would rather read Suzanne Wright's vampire series over and over again, now THAT is how you write a strong female lead.
I don’t know of I will read the rest of these. I do want to see what happens with Jane, so I may try the next book. If it’s more of the same type of BS between the two MC as this one, though, I will declare the risk of another one to not be worth it.
I gave two stars because Talen is a character I love to read about. Super tall, muscular, sexy, strong, passionate, and faithful. And then Cara had to ruin it for me. I can't stand characters like her. Ruined the series for me too.
This was an interesting and a good start for a series. I was really interested in the world and the different races. Hopefully the next book will provide more information about what is going on.
I thought Cara and Janie were very interesting with their different psychic abilities. Talan was very strong, confident, and a little too controlling but that is mostly out of concern. Still got a little tedious at points though.
I can't wait to reread the next book. I really want to see what is going to happen next between these two races.
Fated by Rebecca Zanetti is the first book fo the Dark Protectors series. In this series a group of brothers who are also vampire royalty are trying to protect the world from an evil group of vampires. Along the way they also hope to find their mates. In this first installment Talen meets his mate Cara, who is a scientist and a single mother. She also happens to be a psychic and a scientist who may be able to help them learn about a virus the evil vamps are using to infect shifters and mated vamps. When Talen learns that the evil group is after Cara and her daughter, he comes to rescue them and to make Cara his.
I really like this series. It’s such an interesting take on vampires. I love how alpha protective Talen is but that Cara doesn’t hesitate to stand up for herself. Talen and his brothers are also very sweet at times, especially with Cara’s daughter who they immediately take on as family. 4 stars for this quick paranormal romance.
