"[Rebecca York's] books. . . deliver what they promise: excitement, mystery, romance. . ."
- Michael Dirda, Washington Post
A master of paranormal romantic suspense, Rebecca York is the author of over 150 books. A New York Times and USA Today best-seller, she has written paranormal romantic thrillers for Berkley and romantic thrillers for Harlequin Intrigue. Her romantic-suspense series, Decorah Security, is set at a detective agency where agents have paranormal powers or work paranormal cases. She also writes an Off-World series where each story is a science fiction romance taking place on a distant planet in the far future.
The first of her Berkley Sensation paranormal romantic suspense novels, KILLING MOON, was a launch book for the imprint.
She also wrote the popular 43 Light Street series for Harlequin Intrigue. In addition, as Ruth Glick, she has authored or co-authored 15 cookbooks.
Rebecca’s many awards include two Rita finalist books. She has two Career Achievement awards from Romantic Times: for Series Romantic Suspense and Series Romantic Mystery. NOWHERE MAN was the Romantic Times Best Intrigue of 1998, and the book was selected as one of their Reviewers' "all-time favorite 400 romances." In addition, she received the 1998 Affaire de Coeur's Critics Choice Award for Best Contemporary Novel, also for NOWHERE MAN. Ruth's book, KILLING MOON, won the 2003 New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Award for best Paranormal. AMANDA'S CHILD won the 2001 Golden Leaf Award for Long Contemporary and was nominated for Best Intrigue of 2000 by Romantic Times. She is one of a small group of authors to have won the Romance Writers of America Centennial Award.
Ruth and her husband travel frequently to research settings for novels and taste new dishes for cookbooks. Her many unique experiences are apt to end up in her books--like the time she encountered a coral snake in the Guatemalan jungle or took a flight in a glider plane.

Ruth Cardello hit the New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers Lists for the first time back in 2012. Millions of her sales are evidence that her books are akin to potato chips, addictive from the first one. She has created a multi-series billionaire world with a combination of escapism and realism that has gained her a faithful following of readers.
What Kindle Reviewers write about her:
"Wow, hot at every page. Heart-stopping, fear raging, mind-blowing wonderful."
"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart-wrenching, and I love them all. There aren't two alike in the bunch and I feel like I know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors' books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."
"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."
Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

Table of contents where the recipes are not in any specific order.
Short intro about how the book came about.
Each recipe starts with a title including author name. Book the author wrote with this recipe summarizes the book story.
Servings. List of ingredients are included and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs. canned items.
Directions are given. There are NO pictures and NO nutritional information.
Good collection of Christmas cookie recipes. Collection of stories is shown at the end along with summaries of each of the stories inside.
Authors fuss over using organic eggs, a specific organic butter (Kerrygold), then suggest that we substitute Splenda for sugar—without augmenting the recipe to handle the lack of sugar molecules. Clearly they have no clue that cooking is a science. Cookies require three specific things: sugar, fat and flour. Change the ratio, change the cookie.
If you want a companion cookie cookbook to explain the science behind cooking, see: Mrs. Claus' Christmas Cookies: Make Impressive Holiday Treats . It's thematically organized, and well laid out.
About the only recipes I trusted were Hellen Scott Taylor's. BTW, golden treacle is not molasses, though they can be substituted. And peanuts are not nuts, they are legumes. Peanut-butter cookies are already 100% nut free. But I like the idea of using sunflower seeds butter. They'd probably be even better with cashew butter.
And there were typos. Nothing instills confidence like typos in a cookbook. For some reason tbsp. is randomly capitalized, but not tsp. And different font sizes are used—sometimes within a word. There are specific fonts for making fractions: 1 1/2 is not clear: 1 ½ is correct fractional typography; 400°F is traditionally how oven temperatures are written.
No photos, no index (hot links help, but it would make more sense to group recipes by style: drop, roll/refrigerator, cookie gun, and bar); there's inconsistent visual layout of the recipes; no variation on the provided backstories to go with the cookies—the same descriptive paragraph is trotted out again and again for an author's four recipes.
Simple Sunflower Cookies. Very simple only three ingredients.
Cornflakes Macaroons. Makes two dozen cookies on only one cup of cornflakes. I've never had these, how about you?
Rocks from the book, "Christmas Captive" by Rebecca York. It has cinnamon, Brown sugar, and raisins. What a treat for the nose.I
There are more recipes to enjoy.
Happy baking!!
That said, I was disappointed to not see photos of the completed baked goods. Many recipe titles seem to suggest what we seek, but prove, once completed, to be something else altogether. That's why photos of the actual recipes, completed, are truly imperative for a good cookbook.
Had I been less familiar with many of the recipes offered, I'd have likely scored no better than 3 stars. But, like I said, experience has provided me with adequate visual recognition for those I know. And same experience tells me that differences from other recipes I've tried show me that the old-world recipes I've been seeking are actually contained within.
I noticed that some of the recipes had stories explaining why a cookie was special to one of the authors. That sure gives it a "hometown family" feel.
Top reviews from other countries

There is an introduction to the recipe in regards to the characters which was unique, but the recipes themselves didnt excite me. I wouldnt say they were all that Christmassy either.
