Feral Nation - Infiltration (Feral Nation Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
In a near future, post-apocalyptic America, terror attacks, riots and insurrection have turned cities and towns into war zones...
Professional security contractor and former Navy SEAL, Eric Branson, has been away fighting ongoing insurgencies in Europe when he learns his own country faces the same fate. But before he can make his way back home to Florida, a catastrophic hurricane deals the final blow to an infrastructure already ravaged by riots and terror attacks, leaving survivors cut off and on their own.
Amid the death and destruction of the aftermath, Eric begins his most dangerous mission yet, searching for the family he left behind. Eric didn't come here to fight another war, but he's prepared for anything he might encounter as he quietly makes his way into south Florida.
Will Eric find his ex-wife and daughter at their waterfront home? Or is he already too late?
Feral Nation - Infiltration is the first book in the latest post-apocalyptic thriller series from Scott B. Williams, author of The Pulse Series and The Darkness After series.
I am retired US Army Special Forces (Green Beret,) and find that Mr. Williams has done quite a bit of research on his "military action" scenes. I find his writing of these scenes to be spot on down to the smallest detail. One of the many "jobs" I had while in Special Forces, was an anti-terrorist and counter-terrorist instructor. Those and many other tasks are what is generally referred to as "Special Operations."
Mr. Williams military action scenes are VERY good! Since one of the things I've done in my life is work as an outfitter/guide in the Rocky Mountains, his scenes regarding the Colorado Mountains are as close as you can get. I can only surmise that he has actually ridden some of the same trails I've ridden.
Having grown up in Southeast Texas near the mouth of the Sabine River, I've traveled the bayous of SE Texas and SW Louisiana. I particularly liked his Collapse books. It was a chance to revisit my youth, thank you Sir.
I heartily recommend his books for true adventure reading.
Mr. Williams, keep'em coming!

From the Author
Anyone paying attention to the news headlines in the U.S. and Europe can see that the tipping point to such upheaval looms closer every year. Feral Nation explores a not-too-distant future where widespread fighting has torn a nation apart, forcing survivors to either take sides or fend for themselves. In south Florida, where the action in Book One takes place, the situation is complicated further after a devastating hurricane completes the job of shutting down the power grid and cutting off survivors from any hope of outside help.

Every author has their own style--some are hard to visualize the action; some put in too much dialog that doesn't do anything for the plot, some don't know what they're writing about, and some are just right, as is this author. It's very easy to visualize the action. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in his portfolio, and I think other readers will be happy also.
Just finished the Remaining series and this was recommended and had good reviews so I purchased it. And excitedly started reading and listening.
It’s not bad. Really, it’s just ok. It has some neat concepts and twists on the concepts but it felt fairly amateur in its execution. The narration was also, ok. Maybe it’s a hard comparison because of how good the narrator was in the series I had just finished but again, not bad just a bit unfitting.
I’ve heard other stuff the same narrator did and it was good. This one felt unpolished. Anyway, it’s all pretty good, just not a five star rea/listen. It got me through several commutes tho.
I've already bought the other 3 books in the series that have been written.
As you can tell, I liked it a lot.
