About the authors
A native Oregonian, Diana Deverell was a US Foreign Service Officer and served in Washington DC, San Salvador, and Warsaw, before she moved to rural Denmark to write full-time.
Her latest release is LAY BARE THE LIE, the sixth book in the Nora Dockson legal thriller series, featuring a woman ex-con turned appeals lawyer. The first five books in order are HELP ME NORA, RIGHT THE WRONG, HEAR MY PLEA, JUDGE ME NOT, and OPEN THE DOOR. “Mercy Find Me”, a story spun off the series, was a finalist for the 2019 Derringer Award for short mystery fiction.
Diana debuted as a published writer in 1998 with 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING, her first international thriller. The latest thriller in the series is CHINA BOX. The four-book series spans seventeen years in the career of her heroine, State Department intelligence analyst Casey Collins.
Diana has also written the political thriller BITCH OUT OF HELL starring security pro Bella Hinton and told in Bella’s own salty words. Bella is the heroine of “Payback is a Bitch,” a short story appearing in FICTION RIVER – PULSE POUNDERS: COUNTDOWN edited by Kevin J. Anderson. Before shining in stories of her own, Bella played a supporting role in several international thrillers taking place from the Cold War to the present.
Diana’s published short fiction includes six stories starring FBI Special Agent Dawna Shepherd. All are available as ebook short stories. Dawna’s past adventures are collected in RUN & GUN: A DOZEN TALES OF GIRLS WITH GUNS and she plays a supporting role in BITCH OUT OF HELL and three international thrillers.

Mark Leslie would be the first person to admit he's still afraid of the monster under his bed.
Proudly adopting the term "Book Nerd" for himself, Mark is a writer, editor and bookseller and is most comfortable with a pen in hand, fingers on keyboard or with his nose stuck in a book.
His first book, ONE HAND SCREAMING (2004) collected mostly previously published short stories and poetry along with a few original tales. His other fiction includes I, DEATH (2014), EVASION (2014) and A CANADIAN WEREWOLF IN NEW YORK (2016). Mark's dark fiction is often compared to "Twilight Zone" or "Black Mirror" in terms of style, exploring "what if" themes with contemporary settings that include speculative elements, gently skipping around the genres of sci-fi, horror and urban fantasy.
He is also the editor of the science fiction anthologies NORTH OF INFINITY II (2006), TESSERACTS SIXTEEN: PARNASSUS UNBOUND (2012) the horror anthology CAMPUS CHILLS (2009) as well as FICTION RIVER: EDITOR'S CHOICE (2017) and FICTION RIVER: FEEL THE FEAR (2017).
Mark's first non-fiction book, HAUNTED HAMILTON: The Ghosts of Dundurn Castle & Other Steeltown Shivers (2012) is an appreciation of his hometown told in a combination of historic journeys combined with ghostly legends. His second non-fiction paranormal title SPOOKY SUDBURY: True Tales of the Eerie & Unexplained (2013) is co-authored with Jenny Jelen, about the city they both grew up in. TOMES OF TERROR: Haunted Bookstores & Libraries (2014) explores the types of places Mark most loves to haunt. CREEPY CAPITAL: Ghost Stories of Ottawa & The National Capital Region (2016) explores the eerie and ghostly tales from Canada's capital city. HAUNTED HOSPITALS: Eerie Tales About Hospitals, Sanatoriums, and Other Institutions (2017) is co-authored with Rhonda Parrish.
Mark continues to publish short fiction in small press horror magazines and anthologies and most recently had stories appear in TESSERACTS SEVENTEEN (2015), FICTION RIVER: SPARKS (2016) and 2113: Stories Inspired by the Music of Rush (2016)
Born in Sudbury Ontario, Mark has courted with a serious addiction to reading and writing his entire life. He has called both Ottawa, ON and Hamilton, ON home for about a decade each and currently lives in Waterloo, Ontario.
Based in Toronto, Canada, I write horror, science fiction and mystery/crime, often all at once in the same story. Garnering an Honorable Mention in "The Year's Best Science Fiction" and nominated for numerous Aurora Awards, my work has appeared in Obsessions: An Anthology of Original Fiction, Fiction River: Visions of the Apocalypse, Fiction River: Superpowers, Fiction River: Visions of the Apocalypse, Fiction River: Sparks, Fiction River: Recycled Pulp, the anthology Tesseracts 16: Parnassus Unbound, the anthology Tesseracts 15: A Case of Quite Curious Tales, the anthology Imaginarium 2012, the anthology Ride the Moon, the TransVersions anthology, Deadbolt Magazine, On Spec, The Vampire's Crypt, Storyteller, Reflection's Edge, the anthology Future Syndicate, and Into the Darkness, amongst others.

Felicia Fredlund writes in multiple genres and for both adults and young adults. Her quest is to entertain, offering her readers exciting adventures and emotional rollercoasters.
She also edits anthologies.
Her own first adventures happened through video games and later she added on computer games as well as board and card games. She studied game design and game programming, but switched over to more conventional computer science. Learning is one of her passions.
Felicia currently has two series running: a high fantasy series called Sorceress Islands and a YA science fantasy series called Shadow Courier. She has several short stories published and more are coming. She’s also working on more series as well as more volumes in her current series.
She edited Fiction River: Last Stand with Dean Wesley Smith and her story “Magic and Sacrifice” appeared in that volume. She has since appeared in several more Fiction River volumes.
Michèle Laframboise lives in Mississauga, Ontario where she feeds coffee grounds to her plants, makes webcomics and creates stories filled with humour, adventure and wonder. She has a lot of printed books and graphic novels out there, but publishing houses tend to flop behind her like those rope bridges in adventure movies… So she runs faster forward.
Her works have been published in Solaris, Galaxies, Fiction River, Compelling Science Fiction, Future SF, Asimov's and Abyss&Apex. She has been translated into French, Italian and Russian. Holding degrees in geography and engineering, she uses her scientific background to create worlds filled with humor, invention and wonder.
