Great book and an ending that will not disappoint you

This was the last book in this series and it was awesome. I could hardly put it down, it moved along keeping you on the edge of the chair. So many things happened that I was not expecting or saw coming. I will not give you any spoilers but there was a lot of questions answered and a lot of surprises.

I love the characters, Addie is the main focus character through out and she is so down to earth and real. You have to admire her attitude, determination and loyalty. Where you meet her, she doesn’t know her past and only finds out in this book. You follow Rowan, Donovan, Cora, Era, Doug, Elyrsia, James, Ian, George and Neil throughout the series and they all develop into full blown characters that play so much a part of Addie’s life.

If you have been reading the series, you will absolutely love this book. The ending will not disappoint you in any way.

Wow, what a way to end this series,. This book was non stop action from start to finish. Something was always making the story take an unexpected turn along the away. The writing was so good, you felt like you were within the pages living it along with the characters. These characters are completely believable and have a depth to them. My only complaint is that this series has now ended.

Any questions you had along the way are answered. I did get a bit choked towards the end to do with Ian, but that's all I'll say on that. You get surprised by George's actions in this book, and I think you'll be pleased with Neil's outcome. Oh! And in this book we encounter necromantic zombies.

Overall, if you have read all the books in this series, you won't be disappointed in this book. This truly was an exceptional series. It is always a joy to find an author who writes so well, it makes it efortless to read her work. This whole world of Becca Andre's was very well thought out and made it easy to devour. Highly recommend.

The last book wraps up Addie & Rowan series. To be honest I recommend re-reading the book before this one and then start on The Fifth Essence. But I was impatient and couldn't wait so I immediately started reading. It took me a few chapters to catch up and remember the state the characters were last in. I quickly read this book and sighed. Then I started with book 1 again reading the series. Finally I reread this book & TOTALLY loved this book. I love the interaction, the sarcasm, the good, the bad, the not so bad and say what??? I did not like one of the characters dying - I totally understand why and shed a few tears. Darn it. I loved the different view points of the characters and what each was thinking and their motivations. The zombies - ick! Totally surprised at the ending. The good news is Ms. Andre is/has written an book about Doug and Era - so the characters live on in a new series! Thank you.

Of all the book series I've read this one concludes one of the top 5. Love the characters...love the humour...love how the different story lines are connected across the books...the complexity of it all...Abbie is such an authentic character....the others too, each one with his or her own believable quirks ...their actions and what drives them feel real and true and not forced for the sake of keeping the story interesting. I never felt I had to skip boring parts - since there weren't any! I might just read this series again some time (which, with all the books available out there happens rarely - but with this one I just might!) Great series!

It's always difficult to read the end of an outstanding series, but I appreciate this author so much for writing, not only a riveting epic story, but also for ending it in such a satisfying, a little sweetly bittersweet, fulfilling way. I still can't help hoping for more. Era and Doug deserve at least one book, if not a series, of their own. And I would love to see Cora and Donovan get their HEAs too! Frankly, this world is too good to go just away.

It feels like everything has come to a beautiful conclusion. I don't know if this is the last book in the series (seriously hope not!) but I loved how far Addie had come as an addled alchemist with a memory problem. Her relationship with the Flame Lord and the others were just as great in growing and evolving. I just found this series so beautifully intense with drama, magic, and the uniqueness of a world filled with humans trying to be okay with magic. It's a definite recommend.

Filled with imperfect characters struggling to accept themselves and a couple of evil foes I strongly recommend her books. Just be prepared to have a difficult time putting the book down! If you’ve read the previous books in the series you’re in a for treat, since it’s a great wrap up.

This is an epic final book in the Final Formula series (the length of two paperbacks). If you love the first book (which is free along with 1.5 and book 2) the rest of this series is brilliant. After buying book 5 I didn't open it until I'd re-read all the books from the start which helped remind me how awesome all the characters are. If you love complex fast moving plots full of magic, alchemy, hell hounds, necromancers and the odd zombie and life-like characters who develop and unfold as the story progresses - you will LOVE this series. Throughout the series the bad guys are unspeakably evil...the good guys are usually goodish (except for when they're not). I was practically holding my breath as I read the last few chapters (before reading the book) because I couldn't bear not knowing who lived and died. I then read the whole book and cried a second time.

I'm not sure if the author intended it, but there's a strong theme of Agency running through the series - personal choice juxtaposed against losing one's will and being forced to do horrible things against one's will. There's also a strong theme of self-development. Addie, the main alchemist of the story, starts the series having lost her memory. She knows she survived an explosion. She knows she's an alchemist because all she can remember are formulas, but nothing else. It's in book 5 that she learns who she really is and the truth of who she was...and who she's become. After writing the author to let her know how much I enjoyed the book I learned that she's planning on writing more stories from this world...and that Doug and Era will get a book. I'm SO excited.

The five star rating is for this series as a whole - I really enjoyed it. Characters evolve as you read, they are flawed and still you warm to them (especially the flame lord ..... pun intended!)
Alchemy as a theme is something I hadn't come across in fantasy, so the whole series felt fresh and original.

I was led to this author by a tip from another of my favourites, Lindsay Buroker - and their styles do have a certain similarity - so if you enjoy this, I recommend you look her up too!
