Characters were OK and plot interesting, but technical inconsistencies marred the story. The technology ashore was current, or near future. There,s no way the multiple advances in technology required for a 100 story skyscraper to be built in secret underwater and then rocket into space could have been developed in secret by one man. Just not possible. And how could the top of his Eden be rocking at 45 degrees in the storm, while remaining stationary underwater? It’s made of metal, not silly putty. Too much physics has been ignored for the sake of drama.

There is a mystery- hundreds of people, young and old, have disappeared. There are a few dedicated parents and police digging to find where. Fine- but it stretches credibility that they can just stop at any station to fill up with gas, that phones and computers still work, that streets are not blocked by riots.
There are references to the Book of Revelations and one person refers to 'the Rapture'. Earth seems to be wracked by catastrophes on all continents. O.K., cue the guy who is building an ark.
Obvious plot. Sketchy imagery. The slow pacing and foreshadowing just ruined it for me.
I never finished.

I have read and enjoyed several books by each of these authors. As a team, the output is terrific! The characters are deeply developed, the scenes are vividly described and the story is well-written. Widespread natural disasters occurring at an increasing rate are predicted to tear the world apart. A strange variety of people suddenly go missing, but almost everyone else is concerned with seeking possible safe havens. Special Agent Kendra Baker decides to keep investigating the disappearances. Ex-Marine Corporal Andrew Miller refuses to accept it when his daughter goes missing; he enlists the aid of a computer hacker on the trail of a strange acting billionaire. Their paths cross, but Kendra pegs Andrew as one of the kidnappers, so they aren’t working together. Will they be able to pool their resources to find the missing people? The plot twists and the building suspense of the disasters keeps the reader riveted to the story, turning pages, losing sleep, to get to the surprising end of this portion of the series. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion. I liked it so well that I bought a copy to support these deserving authors. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.

The story follows Andrew, an ex-Marine with PTSD, who is searching for his kidnapped daugher Val; Kendra, a FBI Special Agent, who is investigating the disappearance of multiple persons in the San Diego area; and Roland, a young hacker, who is using the Internet to track down the whereabouts of mysterious billionaire Lewis Hound. Their time is limited, as only ten days remain until a simultaneous series of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions (including the Yellowstone supervolcano), tsunamis, hurricanes, and outbreaks of toxic gases are predicted to devastate the Earth, and the President has ordered the evacuation of the coastal areas to the southwestern states like Texas. Through an unlikely series of coincidences these three wind up working together and after battling earthquakes, tsunamis, toxic gas, trigger-happy guards, and panicky citizens, on D-Day minus one they finally discover the whereabouts of Val, the other missing persons and Hound himself.

This was such a great start to what I expect to be an exciting post apocalyptic, dystopian, Sci-fi series.
I had no qualms about the story writing calibre it was in good hands Nythan Hystad and Jasper T Scott; they both know how to create their worlds and place realistic characters in the stories they weave around them.

This story starts with the end of the World as the back drop to the characters we meet, their stories all some how linked, all bound to one fate.

All may not be as it seems, an exact count down to disaster, so many catastrophic events all at once is this a natural event or is it linked to the richest man in the world Lewis Hound?

The book ends dramatically, but no spoilers here, suffice to say the title of the second book suggests a possible outcome for some...

A compelling, exciting read that I highly recommend. Looking forward to Colony very much!

This book considering the premise of World ending disasters is different enough from the many other similar ones that it easily held my attention, the characters who are all flawed yet when required to be heroic, are likable and the twist at the end of the story is definitely enough to make you want the next part of the story. The science isn't over the top and is all to believable with a hint of a deeper story thread not yet explored, definitely worth a read

This book was full of action and contained a few 'red Herrings ' which added to the drama as it unfolded. Once I started reading it I was unable to put it down. Strong, believable characters which allowed you to sense their frustrations and shortcomings. So much so that the reader became frustrated with them as well. Without betraying the story I think it's fair to say that it will lead you to an unexpected place at the end.
