A Fantastic Family Protector Series Continues

April is hands down one of the top authors I recommend to anyone in search of a great writer, and her McIntyre Family Series is one I return to and re-read regularly. I LOVE that she is back on the action track with more stories like this one. You still get the great interaction and overlap with the previous characters and family members which gives readers a “home” with instant affinity. Excellent job on the authors part getting into the detail of how to manage diabetes and mental health healing. There isn’t a woman anywhere that won’t adore Jason and how he works to expand his existing medic skills to meet the moment. I also loved that the characters where evolved enough to be truly supportive of each other (including the parents) as situations and observations changed along both the relationship and healing pathway. My only frustration with this series that also came up in other books, is that Shane and Jake McIntyre who lead a very high level security company from security systems to surveillance to close personal protection details for very wealthy individuals, would NEVER put a member of their security team nor their client at risk by having only one bodyguard. Layla is a billionaire currently being stalked by paparazzi and everyone with a cell phone camera. She is also a feature ongoing news story following an abduction; and has brutal schizophrenia and type 1 diabetes. A threat assessment done by the McIntyres would have taken this into consideration and there would have been a minimum of two bodyguards, likely with a third mobile in a vehicle for response and extraction from any public place for months until things calmed down. It wouldn’t have mattered if the client didn’t want it. The team would have added the extra bodyguards to blend. Because any confrontation (including the one in the book), would instantly lead to zero protection for the client while the bodyguard was engaged in the fight, and a disastrous outcome. This made no sense in the Jonah Locke & Lia storyline previously as well. Yep, I know this is a romance novel and to most irrelevant. But since I work in the security field, do threat assessments, and personally have travelled with a bodyguard of my own, I point it out because it’s an easy fix going forward for accuracy.

April Wilson does it again! I have read every book she’s written so many times I’ve lost count, and I know I will be reading Finding Layla time and time again. I highly recommend reading Somebody to Love and Somebody to Hold first because you will get a lot of background information on Layla and the trauma she experienced. You can certainly enjoy this book as a stand alone though. You will absolutely LOVE Layla and Jason. Jason is just so amazing, patient, kind, compassionate and of course 110% bad ***!!!! Layla has experienced so much trauma and it’s so heart warming seeing how far Jason goes to not only understand her mental issues and diabetes but to help her manage and overcome as well!! Just amazing!!! Watching Layla grow makes you want to just clap cheer her along! My only complaint is a selfish one….I just want more!!!! I look forward to reading more books about them in the future!!! TEN STARS!!!!

4.5 Stars! It was a solid 5 stars for me all the way through until the very end when it was a HFN instead of a HEA. Come on April Wilson, through a sister an epilogue!

This has been my first 5 star read in at least twenty books and man, did I need it!

This was my first April Wilson read and I was able to completely get into the story and not feel like I was missing out on anything not having read the other books.

The story was amazing! I was captivated all the way through with Layla's struggles and I thought that her auditory hallucinations were really interesting. I loved how much research and reading Jason did so he could understand what she was going through and how he wasn't put off by it, he just worked with it.

The story is extremely slow burn and lowish heat. There is only one sex scene. However, the story was so good that I didn't feel cheated out of the other scenes that could have been shoved in. It also made sense with the story because Jason was so careful and respectful of her.

Just a great read that I really enjoyed and highly recommend.

What more can I say? I loved every page of this book, it's the kind that you start and you can't leave it until you finish. And when you get to the end, you are left wanting more. Always!
Layla, an heiress who just wants to be normal. Despite everything she had and still has to overcome in her life, this girl is strong and manages to get up every time.
Jason such a down to earth guy, so sweet and patient so committed to his work but especially to Layla. He doesn't just want to keep her safe, he wants her to be happy. It is impossible not to fall in love with him.
PS I can't wait to read more of Tyler and Ian's adventures. Those two are great!

I’m not usually a slow-burn fan but this book is SO worth it. Watching the relationship develop between Layla and Jason is breathtaking. Layla has many obstacles to overcome and rushing into anything more just wouldn’t be right. Jason has to earn her trust and it isn’t easy. He’s patient and protective and absolutely swoon worthy. Beautiful story. LOVED it and I’m so excited for the new series!

What a fantastic book to start the series. Whilst characters are from previous books, this works well as a stand alone, but is enhanced if you’ve read the other series.

Jason is well known to us from the McIntyre Security Series and was a favourite from the off.

Layla we have met in Tyler’s books.

The bringing together of these two makes for a great read.

Layla is vulnerable, she’s been through a terrible ordeal, and with her health issues she’s in need of 24/7 care and protection.

Jason is not only a bodyguard but a medic with army training, so he’s the ideal candidate to take care of both her medical and protection needs.

Jason gets far more than he bargained for when he took on the assignment, Layla finally gets someone who listens and makes her feel safe.

Quite the emotional rollercoaster this read is, from Layla’s POV with her mental health and Jasons too, as he’s hasn’t come from his past unscathed, turning this into a beautiful love story.

During his time with her he sees what an amazing woman she is and starts to fall for her. Can her show her that she is worthy of the love she craves.

I’ve never read a book like this before. It’s was extremely eye opening to what people who suffer from this condition have to deal with. From the condition itself and from others who don’t understand it.
It was great to see such a supportive family dynamic also.

This books is slightly different from the others in so much that Jason wasn’t protecting Layla from anyone else except herself and the voices.
It is beautiful written and you can see how much research April Wilson does to make these constantly excellent books.
I for one absolutely love April’s writing and can’t wait to purchase the paperback to add to my collection. Definitely recommend and if I could give it more than five stars I would!

I am a big fan of April Wilson and I cannot recommend enough her books, she is amazing writer. I have been waiting for this book and my god it was sooo worth it! I wanted to hear Laylas and Jason story and this one was truly good. I am going to read it again and again. How can you not, beautiful complicated girl who deserves nothing but the best gets her HEA with a perfect protector. I wish this book was thousand pages long! Can’t wait to read next book in series.
