I have been asked several times out of all the authors I have met which one was I most star struck over and my answer is always Kristin Hannah! Her books have a way of creeping into my heart and always make me shed tears. Well Firefly Lane had me ugly crying. I have read so many of Kristin’s books but have no idea why I never picked up Firefly Lane. Maybe the size? My ever growing TBR? When I moved last year and got my very own big girl book room I started collecting books given to me by friends. I asked them to send me a copy of their favorite book and to write an inscription inside. Seeing these books lined up on my fireplace mantel reminds me daily of how lucky I am to have such amazing friends. My book club, planner, fellow Golden Girl friend Jen gifted me a signed copy of Firefly Lane. Ok Ok universe, I’ll read it! I text Jen several times with the tear faced emoji, yelled at her several times, but in the end I’ll give her a tight squeeze and thank her for giving me such an amazing book.
Kate is a lonely teenage girl finding it hard to find her place in the world. She doesn’t have friends at school and it seems like all she does at home is fight with her mom. All that changes when Tully moves in across the street. So stylish and old beyond her years, it’s exactly what Kate needs to be seen differently at school. It takes a little time but soon the two will become inseparable. Tully will help Kate be less awkward and Kate will give Tully the family she doesn’t have. The two make promises that no matter what happens they will be a team and each other’s family. TullyandKate forever
Through college and careers the girls do everything side by side. Tully works hard to get her dream career as a reporter, and just like when they were kids Kate follows in Tully’s shadow. The girls will have up’s and down’s but always come back to each other. Tully chooses to make her career her life’s one true love, giving it all of her time so she can become successful. Kate takes a different path of marrying and having a family, being a stay at home mom and giving up her career. The two will hit some major road blocks that threaten to end their friendship, but in the end they will find their way back to each other and in the end be Tullyandkate forever
