I love RJ Blain's Magical Romantic Comedy with a body count series. They're endearing and lighthearted with many laugh out loud moments, but with surprisingly strong characters with real world problems that they have to face. Her females are strong, feisty, and able to take care of themselves. The males are also strong, but loving, and supportive. The relationships are all of equals, not putting one as better than the other, and it's captivating.

That being said, I hated the authors note. That it was necessary, that idiot people may effect whether she bothers writing more of this series in the future, and that those idiot people have been sabotaging her other work because it's not identical to this series. I like Booked for Murder, Outfoxed, and other books under RJ Blain too but they do all have different feels to them. The only similarities are that every book has at least a few instances that make you laugh out loud, from either pure humor or sheer audacity, and that her characters are strong people with their own flaws.

RJ is one of the few authors that I actually pay money to read. Normally I stick to KU books, but hers are good enough that I go out of my way, preorder, and wait impatiently for them to be released. Maybe one of the series isn't your cup of tea, but don't go leaving bad reviews because you got exactly what the book said it was.

Thanks RJ for another glimpse of our favorite cindercorn!

All of her books are outstanding; no matter which name she writes under. I have read all of them multiple times. Each series has its own style; from the very serious to the sublime. If you like one type you should try the others. I am very serious about them being some of the best books I've read. I hate writing reviews as they seem to say the same thing each time, but I got a bit ###### about people sniping her reviews so much she wants to stop writing this series. There are stupid people who pay more attention to reviews than what the books are about and they deserve to miss out. Don't be one of them.

I had Purchased the series, and enjoyed most of the books. I even followed the author on social media. The series was enjoyable, and I waited for this copy to come out.

The author went off the deep end with this story, taking good characters and making them ridiculous at best. Seriously, gorgon mice? No, just no. Then, having the author repeatedly berate her bad reviews on social media was beyond the last step.

I am just sad at the waste of money, and time in reading her work. Even the main character Bailey has gone down hill in this version. No, just no. Glad this is the end of the Bailey and Sam stories. The author is played out.

Never again will I read a Blain novel.

While I enjoyed revisiting my favorite unicorn and her napalm eating antics, I found myself disappointed in the overall story. Ridiculous pet names quickly become annoying when overused and excessive dialogue on Bailey's self esteem issues and talk of corrective nookie seem to have replaced plot developement. The mystery of the disappearing co-workers from book one is never resolved and there isn't any real issue or obstacle for them to overcome. Everything is easily and quickly provided with literal deus ex machina, and the final standoff itself is very disappointing. Anticlimactic even. Also too much salt in the end with the letter from the author.

Mileage may vary, but for myself, I would have been better off stopping at book two and pretending the series ended there.

A good end to Bailey and Quinn

I liked this story a lot. It summed up most of the plot points left from the last two books, though a few remain. This author is very prone to bringing up things and then never resolving them. If you’re wondering where Bailey’s coworkers went during that 18hr shift at the coffee shop in the first book, don’t look for it to be resolved here. Although it was mentioned several times in this book we never find out the reason.

Overall I really liked the storey and I recommend reading the others in this series about Bailey and Quinn.

That said, the end note where the author complains about readers was a massive turn off. I likely won’t be buying anymore of her books. Unfinished plot lines in otherwise very good books drive me crazy, and complaining about bad reviews is in such poor taste I just can’t any more.

Happily Ever After

I am so glad everyone's favorite Cindercorn is finally beginning to realize her worth. Bailey has grown so much as a character, and she very much deserves her happily ever after. It may have come after some hard times and dark experiences but she managed to come out more confident and stronger than ever. Quinn and Bailey work so well together, becoming the mortar to hold the other's weaknesses together.

While I will be sad that no more books will be focused on Bailey and Quinn, they deserve to raise their family (and various dohickies) on peace.

While there is comedy, don't let that overshadow the serious issues R.J. Blain writes about. Look beyond the laughs and think about the world we live in and how society sees certain topics.

I look forward to more of R. J. Blain's books.

As with every novel I have read by R.J. Blain this was an excellent experience! I have enjoyed each novel with Bailey and Quinn and this was true to hilarious form! I got the novel today and stayed up late (for me) to finish it. These novels are funny and also have underlying serious themes, which I enjoy. I have really enjoyed watching the characters grow and become...and who doesn't love a happily ever after? I am currently on an R.J. Blain/Susan Copperfield rampage and am greatly enjoying it! I just finished re reading Bonds and Cold Flame, both of which I highly recommend! Thanks and please keep the goodness coming!

A fitting end for Bailey and Sam's story

While I enjoyed this book, Valley and Sam are favourites of mine, I did find it rather dialogue heavy. There was not much action ----- though Bailey does get to burn a lot of things down ------ the story continues on from where the last book left off. Bailey and Sam are in Vegas with all their family and friends there to see them get 're -married then it's off on their honeymoon. Being who they are it's not your normal honeymoon, the two of them set out to continue investigating Chief Morrison ( who was responsible for the events in book one) they are not supposed to be doing any investigating so come up with a clever roundabout way of achieving their goal. This pays off in spades and what they find leads them finally to the truth of what's behind all the events in the previous books. It's a clever culmination of the story begun in book one and all the loose ends are tied up extremely well. The four stars and not five are for the lack of action and the dialogue. The reason for all the dialogue is that this is basically a two character book. Bailey and Sam spend the majority of the book with just each other for company. This is not to the books detriment as they are two endearing characters. I read the afterword by the author and can't believe some people are leaving harsh reviews if the author deviates from the ( Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) I have read everything this author has written ---------- even the books written under pseudonyms -------------- and most of her other series are excellent, especially the Witch and Wolf series and the Royal States series her latest series The Fox wolf is absolutely brilliant so if you are limiting yourself to just one series you are missing out.

It has got to the stage here I will buy the book without reading the blurb because I know I will enjoy it.
When pre-ordered, I eagerly await the arrival of the book and I tend not to sleep on the days those books arrive on my device.

This book did not break the pattern of enjoyment. This author is one where I feel I could read their books on a constant cycle and not get bored. They are a good length, cover a wide variety of topics and don't fall into clichés.

I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all your books so far, including those written under other names. Other series allow exploration of different themes and provides consideration of other themes.
I don't understand why this series is thought of as being lightweight, when even a superficial analysis shows such heavy duty topics as child neglect, labour laws, people trafficking, animal welfare and rare species trade are all featured.
As a wrap to Bailey and Quinns story this was good and as chaotic as I expected

A great book but what really saddens me about this book was the author's end note where she tells about people not liking her other books because they are not magical rom coms and leaving bad reviews. I feel that this is very short sighted of those people. personally I enjoy all her series wether they are written as RJ Blain, Susan Copperfield or as Bernadette Franklin. To me it is the work that I enjoy regardless of the author's name on the cover. It is not right to praise one series at the expense of another. I know we as readers are always wanting a constant supply of our favorite books but that doesn't give us the right to stop other readers from getting their favorites. If you don't like a particular series then don't buy the rest of it but respect that there are people that do. Accept that the author is only human and for the sake of their mental health can not be expected to produce books on everyone else's schedule as much as we would like it. Enjoy the book you have and remember anticipation is half the fun.
