Another issue I had was the bully that is one of the first character's that the mc first meet's on the kingdom ship and while having a bully in a storyline is not uncommon my issue is the fact that the mc literally sits down at a table and immediately gain's an instant bully with little to no effort. While I can agree that some story's do have a insta bully trope it honestly tend's to be an easy (and lazy) way out of making an actual functioning part of the story instead of taking the time to actually make a reason as to WHY the bully hate's a story's mc.
A third issue that I found was the general lack of military discipline and professional composer among the ship crew that is in fact a military vessel. one example that comes off the top of my head for this issue is when the mc and the group deployed to find the science team are trekking through the forest and when the mc spot's movement rather than the TRAINED personal holding to comm silence they instead start talking one over the other to try to find out the situation rather than waiting for the information. Another example I could use would be right back at our lovely ensign who does little in the way of acting professional for all of the interactions.
Finally the last issue that I have is with the mc himself, when we are introduced to him he states flat out that his education stopped at eleven on a medieval world that has barely any functioning education. A few day's later into the book when the mc has had no further education and barely any understanding of tech we find him calling out location's of possible hostiles by using the clock position method (i.e. hostile at 6 o'clock) and also using helmet scanner's that he only saw for the first time less then an hour ago.
Now despite what it may seem like I actually do like this story and I am going to continue reading it but these issue's where just some thing's that I believed needed to be stated more for bringing them to the author's notice than anything else really.
I look forward to the me t book in the series.
