So this dude straight up spent the entire movie with this girl and was like don't leave I love I need you but then he sees the person he decided he wasn't going to marry and then... MARRIES HER and leaves this other girl I was like WHAT THIS IS NOT THE WAY THIS IS SUPPOSED TO WORK IM SO UPSET THAT SANDRA BULLOCK PLAYED IN THIS!!!!!! IT WAS COMPLETELY POINTLESS!!!!!!!!!} right after watching the movie

my actual review} please do not watch this movie if you wish to keep your sanity. the entire time I was confused about whom he loved...... I'm still confused. and I think that I will always be confused. it wouldve been a beautiful love story if #1 he woulldve stayed loyal to his wife, or #2 ended up falling in lov, and stying in love with the sandra bullock. i mean who doesnt fall in love with sandra bullock!!!!!

Give it a Second Chance!

The first time I watched this movie I didn't like it very much probably because of the surprise ending. I felt sorry for Sandra's character. But the second time I viewed it I really enjoyed it and I could see that Sandra's character was not really in love and would be just fine with her new life with her son.
Someone criticized Ben's character for being fickle and disloyal but they did not see that one of the Forces of Nature is the attraction between the sexes. The two characters spent a lot of time together, went through a lot to of trauma together and developed an intimacy which could cloud anyone's perception. Ben (can't remember character names) had carried Sandra from the airplane and started caring about her as a person, her life and her well being. He also had single friends telling him he would lose his freedom in marriage and a married man told him that love fades, so some doubt was thrown into the idea of marrying his fiancée.
So in my opinion this is a natural way that people often feel before making the commitment of marriage and I do not judge Ben's character harshly as some other reviewers. All in all the movie is entertaining and amusing. Try it again and just say "That's Hollywood" when they cross the line as they often do.

IMMORAL, UNethical & by far UNrealistic; downright depressing, too!

I kept wanting to give this movie a chance because of the main actor & actress acting in it but it was so utterly depressing & such a turn off I had to quit watching it near half way through! A movie I would *not encourage anyone to watch. I kept shaking my head and rolling my eyes throughout it and finally decided I just couldn't continue with it. One of the *worst I've seen in a long while and can't believe it had Sandra Bullock playing the fruit-loop chick. I'm still rolling my eyes & shaking my head.

Guess you could call it an anti-romance movie.
Verified purchase
The view expressed by EVERY character is that there is no such thing as love within marriage, and that the only way to be happy is to pursue the next affair with a more attractive woman than the last. It's like the let a seven-time divorcee write a Hallmark movie, and told him he had the creative license to make it as depressing, egocentric, and uninspiring as he likes. Don't watch it. I kept waiting for it to get better, but it really doesn't seem to.

An OK soapy, but not fabulous.

These are one of those quirky comedy/romance movies. Sandra has a great sense of humor. The storyline is typical for these types of comedy/romance movies. No surprises there. Then the big reunion and big kiss in the end was cute but nothing to write home about. Is this movie worth buying? I'd prefer to just rent it whenever the need strikes, once every blue moon. But if you're into quirky soapy type of movies, then this ones fer you.

I liked it.......... if your looking for a well made movie keep looking............I like romantic comedies and Sandra bullock.....most the negative reviews are from people who have watched Siskal and Ebert too many times.....they should watch the 'Texas chainsaw Massacre' or the' brother from another' planet and they will find out what a terrible movie really is

Never ending adventures with Sandra
Verified purchase
The chemistry between the 2 was non-existent which killed the credibility of the love story. I couldn't stop the movie though because Sandra's acting was superb. The directing and script was excellent. I found myself laughing out loud more frequently that I expected which, didn't make any sense since the story was tumbling towards disasters after disasters (no pun intended). I rarely like movies that don't make sense. I usually seek formulaic, predictable, feel good movies but this movie made me feel different. I'm getting married soon, coincidentally; so, I understood the lesson this movie taught. With the exception of "A Walk to Remember," I actually enjoyed this non-formulaic story. It was quirky at times but realistic and even poetic and beautiful at times. I appreciate the screen writer and producer having the courage to produce a realistic story for once. Lastly, I recommend this movie to anyone having cold feet.

Too Bad, Too Dumb

Movie started out pretty funny. Then 20 minutes later, it's like the good writers walked off the job and the mediocre writers took over and tried to make the plot work. There were wells were the pacing lagged and you had to wonder if they were trying to stretch the plot out because they had a quota to fill. Odd ending. Not at all earned.
