I can't think of another author right now that writes about family and friendships as well as she does. While there is a bit of a romance the core of the story is about family, and bringing everyone back together again.

We start with Caitlin, who is getting married and determined to renew the family from her childhood that fell apart three years ago. She cons/convinces Maze, Heather and Walker to spend the week before her wedding at her house to rebuild.

They are all foster siblings, who spent 1 year with Caitlin and her parents until tragedy struck. Everything that had to do with the tragedy hit me in the feels, it was so sad and seeing them each work through their part in what happened had me teary eyed.

I loved each and every one of them, it was impossible not to. They're all so different, but you know they desperately need each other and Caitlin bringing them together was the best thing for them. The road wasn't always easy though. Heather came with new secrets. Maze and Walker and working through their history. And Caitlin is struggling with her wedding to Dillon.

If families, friendship and love are your thing I highly recommend The Forever Girl. It will hit you in the feels and you will have no regrets.

A return to Jill Shalvis' Wildstone is always an adventure and this time she delivers like always. Maze is returning to Wildstone reluctantly but she can not ignore the request from Cat who is the sister of her heart and her BFF, although currently estranged BFF. Maze grew up in the foster care system and for that one wonderful year lived with Cat and her family plus a motley collection of other fosters who all became their family by choice.

But "Mayhem" Maze has shut herself off from her family because she is afraid of hurting them and being hurt herself. Childhood traumas do have long term effects and need to be healed. And this is a book about the power of love and healing.

Everyone in this novel has issues they need to address due to childhood trauma. It is handled with a very delicate hand and well done. Plus we are able to see how love really can conquer all when we are willing to let down our wall and let someone in who may have the power to hurt us but they really love us. It is something that not only Maze learns in this novel but everyone in her misfit family.

Yes, there is a real love story in this wonderful novel but for me, it is secondary. What mattered the most to me was how everyone was finally able to start the healing from their childhood traumas. Healing is a life long process but it is also freeing. And watching the transformation of Maze as she started to heal was amazing.

Like all of Ms. Shalvis' books, the characters and storyline are well researched and written. She weaves a delicate hand with dealing with childhood trauma and how it makes it harder to trust. Plus there are some really good love scenes in this book as well. After all, it is a romance novel.

I always say her latest book is my favorite and it is quite true. I love this one. And I have already planned my re-read. I took my time reading this one and savoring it. There is a lot to pick up. But if you prefer to plow through your romance books, this book works for that too. However, I think you will miss some of the underlying currents.

Plan a weekend where you can hide away curled up in a comfy spot and escape to Wildstone again.

What a wonderful, feel-good read!

Jill Shalvis is the master at writing romances of the heart. The Forever Girl is the 6th book in the Wildstone series and my new favorite of the series as well!

The main character in this book, Maze, is one of four adults who were torn apart as teens, after a horrible tragedy. Maze, Walker, Cat, and Heather have had their struggles and an argument that puts a huge rift in their relationship…but years later, Cat is able to get them together for her upcoming wedding.

They all bring with them secrets, feelings, and a need to heal…

This storyline was so dang good! I loved how well the story flowed. The characters were so detailed and complete and I loved how the author gave them such deep personalities. I enjoyed the heart and hurt throughout this romance. I absolutely loved this book, and feelings I have after reading it. 5 stars.

Jill Shalvis has a way of writing that pulls you in and engages you in the story from the outset and The Forever Girl was no exception. This book touched on so many different things from family, family of the heart, friends, second chances, love and forgiveness and it was definitely not short on emotion, humor or heart.

Maze has come back to Wildstone for her friend Caitlin's (Cat) wedding and in the process, she reunites with the other two, Heather and Walker, who as teenagers made up the foursome that spent so much time together and were bonded by both wonderful memories and hardships.

While the four of them have been apart for many years, when they find themselves under one roof again, many things revert back to "normal" pretty quickly, while there are other things that time has changed about each of them causing some issues and bringing things to the surface that weren't dealt with years before. Will they be able to re-establish the connections that they once shared or has time separated them too much?

You really get a bit of everything with this book; romance, friendship and family. Each of the characters, along with the secondary characters, are well defined, so you find yourself rooting for each of them to end up exactly where they are supposed to be. This is another fantastic addition to the Wildstone series!

Jill shalvis didn’t disappoint with this story , covering every emotion , as soon as I picked up this book I was drawn into the fiery relationship between Maze & Walker , both having issues from their childhood , yet having that strong attraction to each other , I felt the sparks flying in this relationship but wanted to find out just where this relationship was going & would it end where I wanted it too? I loved the caring friendship between the four friends and seeing that non blood relatives can still be your family , putting little Sammie into the story was a joy , bringing back memories of when my children were small . The extra bonus of the two pugs Roly & Poly made the book so much more special my favourite breed of dog , my heart just melts when I see one , brilliant read and so far my the best read of 2021 well done Jill

I normally love jill salvia and have read loads of her books. I didn't like this one. Very juvenile and couldn't stand Maze. It was so repetitive with her nastiness. How could anyone like her beats me. I think book more suited YA/NA. Maze's frequent meltdowns and over dramatic carrying on dominated the book. It was boring. I eventually skip read as I struggled to get into it. Never did. Kept putting it down.

I always preorder Jill Shalvis books, and this was no exception. I understood the premise of the foster children all meeting up as adults ( though they had only been together for one year) and enjoyed the development of the story, though occasionally I found it difficult to keep the various threads together. I didn’t understand why young Michael was elevated to almost saint like status, given the he was much younger than the teenagers. I understand this was more women’s fiction than Shalvis’ light romances but it didn’t do it for me.
