As Constance Browning return to Oregon after 7 year in the East at schooling living with her father's sister and her husband. Dean and Phinny had lost several children and welcomed their niece to their home. Tom was a student in one uncle dean's classes and had no family of his own. He was very close to the family and came to love Connie almost upon meeting her. At the age of fifteen Connie was head strong with a will to learn. This Story also solves to Indian warring secrets, that was headed by Clint Singleton an agent with Indian affairs on Grand Ronde reservation and Samuel Lakwood, Gerome Bershire and other whites that wanted to see the Indians out of the Oregon state. As always Ms. Tracie gave an amazing account of all details of these events. I enjoyed all 3 books, characters, locations and their hours that lead to love for several couple that were part Grace, Hope, and Mercy Flanagan's stories in previous stories. A must read! Give stars!!!
Tracie always has a way of taking history, fiction, and God's great gift of love and weaving it into a great story. I love that this book also shed a light on how people were wrongly treated and through God's love and mercy their can be healing and forgiveness. I recommend that you read all 3 books in this series.
While I figured out the identity of Mr. Smith early in the novel, I loved the story. I wasn’t 100% sure, but I was sure enough. I loved the way the Native Americans are presented, respected and honored. Great story, I highly recommend it.
