As my only issue with this series is in the slow progression of the storyline. I always choose to read a series over a one-off novel; because you get to dive so much deeper into the world & characters. The authors have done a fabulous job creating a world & characters that I can vividly imagine. That type of creative talent is what I look for in an author; because I want to be so immersed that I feel the story as I'm reading. Reading well written stories is such a wonderful addiction! Otherwise, I end up getting bored easily, if a story is too slow, when it tries to stretch across 6 or more books. It's just my preference & ADHD not wanting to waste too much time when I need action or progression to stay engaged.

I wish the rebellion arc would move a little faster; unless we are being lead to see that even their leadership is corrupted? Regardless, I have a feeling Nix will end up in a leadership position (both in the rebellion & after the council's reign is destroyed). Maybe this is the rebels way of testing Nix to see if she's corruptible & balanced enough to rule fairly over all shifters. Because, both tests have only been about her & her actions/responses.
I'm thrilled to finally see the group open up about how they feel. These guys are definitely perfect RH mates!
Lastly, my curiosity is still piqued on the unknown bird man from the island. The note he left Nix helped confirm my initial ideas....the council seems to be experimenting on mixing genes from different shifters. Maybe injecting embryos with different DNA. My other thought is: that bird man is actually Nix's biological father; but had his memories of her erased. Maybe her mother was captured & he gave her that iron bracelet to shield her Phoenix from shifting. They were dated mates & she got pregnant with Nix. He helped her escape & that's how Michael/Henri got involved. I don't believe Damien's father knew Henri had Nix, I only believe he was a part-blood that worked for the council on that island (like Mrs. Stone). Or it's possible Henri stole Nix's mother when she was pregnant?

I am also not so sure about the Rebellion. There's something fishy. Why would they want a cure for basilisk venom when there are only two of them in the region...not enough to be a widespread threat....also, giving this task to uninitiated members was also a irresponsible... makes me wonder if they had a different agenda.
Anyway, enough speculation....as is apparant, I am absolutely thrilled and ensnared with this series! ❤️
