This one starts with a bitten Bill buying Jonathan, Sandy and Mary time to get away. He's got a grenade and a truck he got out of a garage at a house. He rams the truck into the fuel tankers at the place where those hunting them came from. As he hits those tankers head on he pulls the pin on his grenade. Bill bought the others the time they needed.
Back at the cabin in Kentucky Ian and Lance are making more Battle Bots. Those bots take out stinkers by the thousands. They want more of them in the areas around the cabin. Making them wasn't hard for the brilliant Lance and Ian. Getting them where they need to set them up was much harder.
Ian and Lance also make arrangements to meet with the bear trap people. The only other people out there who seem to be surviving and aren't a gang. Its a meeting that will be beneficial to the bear trap folks. They are surviving but are constantly on the hunt for food. They have no gardens, no chickens or goats. They need help and Lance, Ian, Jennifer, Lilly, Carrie and Allie are more than happy to give it provided the Bear Trap people can patrol areas adding to the security for all.
Back in Oklahoma Jonathan, Sandy and Mary, Bills wife, are still mourning the loss of Bill. They had finally stopped for the day. The horses need rest as do the people and Dan and Ann the two Belgian Malinois they picked up at the same place they got the horses. Jonathan and the others are figuring the route they will need to take to cross the Mississippi river and keep heading for Kentucky. The area is flat with virtually no place they can ride without being seen. Being seen means being shot at. There are gangs attacking all around them. Jonathan knows its going to be a tough row to hoe to get to the bridge over the Mississippi.
There are two gangs in Ian and Lance's area. The Devil Lords and The New Dawn. The Devil Lords are run by a guy Ian and Lance call Boss Hogg. They have houses in the area where they store supplies, guns and ammo. Ian and Lance have already raided those houses many times for gear they need.
The New Dawn who Ian and Lance call Natzi's are a group of white supremacists who Ian and Lance watched kill a family of African Americans. Their leader is a man they call Commandant. Neither gang is safe from Ian and Lance. They have already pulled deadly deeds on New Dawn and the Devil Lords hoping each will think the other gang is the attacker. Neither gang has ever seen Ian, Lance or their team. They have no idea the cabin is in the area. Ian and Lance hope they can make an agreement with the bear trap folks for added security in the valley.
Heath his wife Robin their two kids Lori and Denny, Dwain his brother, Kathy Dwain's wife and daughter Jodi, Grady, his wife Brenda who is Heaths cousin are the bear trap folks. They do meet with Ian and Lance. Heath is not understanding why he is meeting with two thirteen year old kids and not the parents. Both Jennifer and Lilly are parked on the ridge as over watch to protect Ian and Lance if needed.
Heath and those with him are amazed at the gear and food Ian and Lance present to them. Heath is fast learning that Ian and Lance are brilliant and their gear is military grade. Uncle Doug had gotten that gear and stored it at the cabin and though he didn't survive that gear did and both Lance, Ian, Jennifer and Lilly are excellent shots. Dino, Doug's mastiff and George and Judy Lilly's two German Shepherds are a big help in spotting stinkers and gang members. Dino is very well trained and George and Judy are still learning.
The bear trap people give permission for their kids to accompany Ian, Lance and their group back to the cabin. Those kids are about to learn that everyone at the cabin learns and does. The kids are amazed at what Ian, Lance and their group have and are further amazed at what they are able to make. Those kids will be well on the way to learning to use weapons, make things and learn how to truly survive.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Ian, Lance, Jennifer, Lilly, Allie, Carrie, Jonathan, Sandy, Mary, their hazardous journey through the mid west, the bear trap folks, two more battle bots that Ian and Lance made, the tigers who have become protectors for the cabin, a pride of lions who appear out of nowhere, a Jonathan Sandy and Mary finally making it to the Mississippi, a tragedy that befalls them, a Mary and Sandy who become experts at using a bow and arrows, the bear trap folks getting to know Ian, Lance and their team and just what they can do and what they can produce and make, a Heath who is left shaking his head at how capable two thirteen year old boys are and every one of them doing what it takes to fight to survive and stay alive.
Of course I sped through it in a day and now - well crud - can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I actually learn a lot from these “kids” - from their brilliance I learn and study new things (and I’m 60).
I know I will read the series (all 4) again when the next one comes out and I might say that I might be ready for Thomas to finish this saga - maybe not ... but I have read all of his books / series so far and am looking for another story from him.
While I was waiting I did read the 2 book series, “The Bonner Incident” and I have to say I truly enjoyed those 2 books and actually go to complete a story while I was waiting on book 4 of “Forsaken World.”
Okay Mr. Watson - get on the stick and get book 5 out to us. We can’t wait.

My only criticism of Thomas is that there is only one of him. Can't wait for the next book.
Ps if you haven't read any of thomas Watson's book highly recommend you start now
