Man this thing is full of information. There's a ton of material out there on trying to become an author but often times it's difficult to gauge what exactly it takes because there's 10,000 books on writing and the business side of writing and then there's different layers of said aspects. The writing, the plot, the characters, the dialogue, the ads, the agent, the query letter. It's basically a job in of itself! (That's not a surprise) but this is probably the first book I've gone through that tries to actually cover everything from head to toe and it's a ton of information.

I nowhere near the level I'd like to be but this helps build a bic picture in mind and even comes with a handy excel sheet to piece everything together!

100% would recommend it to anyone who's ever even thought about writing.

This book is big. It's got a lot of information that touches on every aspect of being and becoming a career author, from mindset and goals to strategy. Although it covers a vast amount of ground, the information is spread out in a logical way. I especially liked how the chapters are bite-sized, each with an actionable step. It means you can take in the information a bit at a time, and doing the practical work helps cement the principles you're learning. It's accessible enough for those who are just starting out on their author journey but also has plenty for those who are farther along the road. I can tell it's one I'm going to refer to over and over as I hit different milestones.

I also like how the book gives a clear picture of what it will take to make a career out of writing. It doesn't make unrealistic promises of instant success but gives a great roadmap of how to get there, given time and hard work.

There are a ton of bonus resources available that are also a tremendous help in evaluating yourself, your weaknesses and strengths, figuring out your goals and planning out your strategy. Excellent book, highly recommended.

It starts out wigh figuring out your why, goes into the what (what you will write, what your brand needs etc.) And then into the how. It gives great tips on planning and setting up a business that can be scaled as you grow as a writer and a business. The tone is conversational and easy to understand. There is so much great information in this little book that I believe I will return to it often over the coming months.

I've been writing since I was 13, but work, life etc has always taken priority over committing actual time to being a writer. I've read every kind of book on being a writer but none of them held the secrets that would give me the confidence to make the move from full-time day job to planning my life as a full-time writer.

There are plenty of books out there that will tell you what you need to do, what 'side hustles' to bring in income, how to get yourself in print etc. As well as books on the actual craft of writing.

I'm only 20 pages in and this book has already given me more confidence in achieving my goal that any other book I've ever read. Combined with the templates you can access from the authors' website, this 460+ page book is like a one-on-one course to set you up for becoming an author.
