Falling in love with Elvis Presley all over again!

I was a young girl when Elvis rose to stardom! Oh my! Elvis' first performance on Ed Sullivan show - the camera was only allowed to film him from the waist up! I attended two of his live performances, and even my mother swooned! GI Blues, oh baby! "Elvis Aron Presley entered the United States Army at Memphis, Tennessee, on March 24, 1958... and received his discharge from the Army Reserve on March 23, 1964." One year after I graduated high school! My generation grew up with Elvis... the boys dressed like Elvis when he was off stage. Elvis movies are a wonderful walk down memory lane... His voice, his moves, his love of our country, his family, and he loved our Lord. Elvis Presley will never be forgotten! We love you, Elvis, and always will.

I just stumbled upon this movie on TV while flipping through the channels three days ago and it was at the part where Elvis “saves” the puppet show for the children. I’d never seen it before (or any Elvis movie) but from the short clip I watched of it I wanted more.

Unfortunately I did not grow up in the “Elvis era”. In fact, both of my parents were in their late teens when Elvis passed so I was not lucky enough to experience his glory while he was still alive. I’ve been a big fan of his music since I was old enough to walk but never really gave his movies a second thought (shame on me).

I cannot yet vouch for his other films but hearsay is that they are mediocre and carry pretty much the same plot line for the majority of them. However so, this film is amazing. The quality and clarity of this digital copy is crisp and clarified in comparison to the TV version I stumbled upon.

The movie is mostly modest and refreshing when it comes to romance and how different it is today and modernly in film. Elvis effortlessly makes you fall in love with him. And the music is pleasant and plentiful but not overwhelming. I love this movie!

Elvis' Best Movie.
Verified purchase
Probably Elvis' best movie. Actually filmed in Friedburg Germany about 20 km North of Frankfurt, where Sergeant Elvis Presley was station for 3 years in the US Army 3rd Armored Division along with a new 2nd LT Colin Powell (retired 4 star General and US Secretary of state. For us old vets who were station there we can see many sites in the movie that are very familiar. Great pic and probably the best for Elvis. In the movie Elvis pays homage to his old 3rd Armor Division by having himself and the other cast members wearing actual Army uniforms with the real 3rd Armor Division shoulder patch.

Was stationed with the 3rd Armored Div. in Germany the same time as Elvis. Elvis was stationed at Ray Kaserne Barracks in Friedberg, Germany and I was at Fliegerhorst Kaserne, Hanau, Germany. Remembered seeing G.I. Blues over there when it was released. Brought back a lot of memories..

Elvis, the one and only king of blue suede...

My wife had been talking about watching Elvis movies when she was younger and how she loved them. I thought I'd surprise her with this set. It contains the more popular classic movies (Blue Hawaii, Easy Come, Easy Go; Fun in Acapulco; G.I. Blues; Girls! Girls! Girls; King Creole; Roustabout; Paradise, Hawaiian Style. Immediately, she opened it and popped in Blue Hawaii. The movie was clear and the sound was decent; definitely worth the price I paid. Even more worthwhile was the smile on my wife's face as she was watching it.

Something triggered a memory of the "Wooden heart" song from this movie, and after I tried to sing it from memory, I looked for the video on YouTube. When my five year old daughter became interested in the movie, I knew that I had to buy it so that she could see her 1st Elvis movie.

Elvis in the Army

I rated this movie a 5 because it is another Elvis #1 hit. A beautiful scene in this movie is where Elvis and a girl puppet perform a show for the children. The show has comedy in it and the children love it and sing the song, "Wooden Heart". This movie shows the love that Elvis had for children and it is an unforgettable scene. This movie is a very special feast for the viewer and it is one that you will want to see over and over again.
