So I bought this for $15 hoping the description was correct. It was and in less time than I was on hold with either the cable or vizio I was up and running and able to control the cable box, TV, DVD, and sound bar.
And its lighter and smaller that the cable remote.
This thing comes straight out of the box already working with my Samsung TV and my Apple TV. However, when I used the out-of-the-box setup, the remote would choose which thing to work on. For example, the POWER button would turn on the TV (good), the arrows would work around the Apple TV menu (good), but the MENU button would bring up the Samsung TV menu and not work as a back button for the Apple TV (bad). Super easy fix, I simply programmed one of the 4 devices to be for TV, and another device to work for the Apple TV. Now I get to choose what the MENU button does (heh heh evil laugh). This advertises as 4 devices, but it actually works with 4 devices plus a soundbar.
This will not work for PS3 or other Bluetooth-remote devices.
Holy Mother of Pearl.
Here's where the dumb part comes in. So I get the package in the mail and I say let me pour some rum and coke and mess with it later. After drinking about a pint I entered codes from the little instruction book and half of the buttons did not work. I'm like wtf... Worst remote ever and I started looking for another one. While searching on my phone I decided to do a master reset on the remote control and when I did.... Lol it worked perfectly for both. And after doing further research it automatically comes programmed for Samsung and Roku.
No more drinking and remote pairing! 🍺🍺🍺
Seriously thought.... Best 10 bucks you would spend. You can not beat it. I will update if I get any issues...
UPDATE: Think again if you want to return this package without getting extremely inconvenienced and irritated! GE forces you to go mail your package at a "valid" UPS Store by only providing you with a QR code that the UPS Store needs to scan in order for them to print your shipping label. It's absolutely ridiculous that I need to travel 30 minutes away to return this BROKEN/DEFECTIVE item to a UPS location in order to have them print the shipping label, instead of being able to print the label at home and drop it off at a UPS pickup location that is only 5 minutes from my house (which is how I've been returning amazon packages since 2013)! I've never been this upset and inconvenienced from returning a package!

For example, when you have multiple HDMI's attached and you wanna change from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, this remote couldn't do that basic function for my Samsung TV even though it's a new TV!
Also, I have a Vizio Soundbar (which I recommend getting in another review) but this remote doesn't have a "bluetooth" button like the soundbar does.
*Sigh*. And this is after spending 30 minutes trying to get the codes right!
I'm sure it's good for simple purposes, but not for modern purposes.
However, at first it seemed like it was able to perform only the very basic functions on my 6-year old Toshiba TV like powering on or changing channels, but that others (source selection, TV configuration menu) were either unavailable or were working wonkily. That's because I used the codes listed in the enclosed instructions. I then went to the manufacturer's Web site (byjaco.com) and found there a whole different set of codes corresponding to the label inside the battery compartment. The first one I tried worked perfectly and I can now use the remote fully for my TV. I do not know if it works for Apple TV or networking capabilities since I do not find those things relevant for my needs and it would be picayune for me to complain about that.
It would be a good idea for GE to include a more useful and up-to-date version of the codes list in the packaging or to simply direct people to go to the Web site as a first step. Programming the remote is simple and very fast.
I also appreciate its slim-line profile and the light weight. And if you buy one of the versions in another finish than the standard basic black, it becomes more readily identifiable as you need to locate it. I have yet to try it for my Blu-Ray players, but it does seem to be lacking one-key access to some of the functionalities like time elasped or remaining; I would probably need to go into menus to use them with this remote. But that is a minor point and I consider myself fully satisfied.
The remote is light and slightly smaller than I expected, which is pleasant. It's very thin, like my smart phone, but lighter and narrower.
I don't know what the ABCD buttons do, but everything I've wanted to do has been easy so far.
I will definitely modify my review if it breaks early on. So far, I'm loving it.
The remote itself is cheap but not totally unattractive. I would recommend it for traditional, small home TV setup. Not useful if you have a lot of home automation like wi-fi lights, and additional speakers and other things to control. This will only control Infrared devices and needs line of sight.
The manual included a QR code to their instructional video on Youtube, which is fantastic for lazy people like myself. The setup took less than a minute, and I was ready to go.
The Siri remote supports both IR and Bluetooth signals. This remote, unfortunately, only supports IR. This means if your Apple TV is tucked away, it will not be able to receive the signal. I had to pull mine out of the TV stand.
Things on Apple TV you cannot do with this remote:
- Scribble seek: Unlike the Siri remote, there is no touch pad on this remote, and you are only allowed to skip 10 seconds at a time.
- Putting Apple TV to sleep: the remote does not support press-and-hold, which means you cannot put your Apple TV to sleep, unless you open the 'Settings' app and navigate through a series of menu items.
- Closing background apps: The remote does not support 'double tap'
Despite a number of things I cannot do with this remote, I still think this remote is worthwhile. Having to switch between multiple remotes is a nightmare.
También sería bueno tener una confirmación cuando se envía un comando a los aparatos “con la luz roja” pero... fuera de eso funciona cómo está descrito.
I got it yesterday and connected it to 4 devices: Sharp Roku TV, Sony sound bar, Apple TV, and Videotron cable box.
Codes were easily found for each device. The sound master feature is useful (volume going to the same device whatever device is selected).
Some drawbacks: First, the Sony sound bar input button is not as convenient (replaces +/-), you can only scroll in one direction. Also, it is minimalist, therefore, you stil need to explain “inputs”, device selection, and what to power off/on to other members of the family. There is no concept of « activity » that competitor product offer that make this easier, at 6x higher price. And like any universal remote, takes a while to get used to the locatin of the commonly used buttons.
So its main advantage for me is to only have one remote on the table, not 4.
This cheap little device works flawlessly with my TV, Roku and Soundbar.
A few minor cons:
-It is a bit flimsy but unless you are real heavy and sit on it it will be perfectly fine.
-Not much play with the IR emitter. You do have to point it pretty close to center of the device your trying to control.
I would buy this again.
