While I was sad to see the fall of Goth Sullus and his empire, there is no shortage of excitement in the next season of the Galaxy's Edge saga, beginning back at Kublar, where we were first introduced to the Legion and the dumpster fire of the galaxy.
Readers follow a mercenary force controlled by a new player, with his own goals for the future of galactic civilization. He is a figure of ambiguity and the authors as always do an excellent job of showing the limited perception of the warriors on the front lines or the political operatives engaging in infiltration and assassination, with only a few glimpses of the big picture as it's gradually revealed.
I won't say more for risk of spoilers, but there are hints of a greater conflict to come, with terrifying eldritch forces and high tech black magic stretching back to the earliest crucibles of galactic struggle.
So grab your bucket and saddle up!

This is probably the best written book in the series. I especially liked how it was divided into two separate stories working toward a common end. The graphic detail of the narrative and believable characters were especially well done and leaves the reader wanting more.

Continuing a series after a big arc has concluded can be difficult. Too often people rehash the old stuff or do something that is so different it doesn’t seem natural. Takeover side steps this, dropping us back into Kublar in a way that feels reasonable and natural, rather than just being too lazy to invent a new world. We get the same high quality writing and action that we’ve seen in other GE books here and an exciting opening to a new season of the series. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book.

This is a great start to Season 2 of Galaxy's Edge. I just finished it and was sad that I couldn't ready the next book because the ending is.... amazing. Aside from some minor references this story didn't seem to connect directly with the other mainline books very much which I was originally disappointed with. And then the last quarter of the book happened. And I want more. The new characters are great. Carter is very likeable and with some reservations I do like Team Nilo a lot. I can't wait to see where season 2 takes. Hopefully new planets and new characters. One thing I got for sure from this book is that this season is going to be Savage.

Great action and tension! The descriptions of battles really make the scenes pop. There are surprises and events dictated by war. Spies, duplicity, and confusion! One more piece of the grand puzzle. It’s easy to get involved with the characters and in the series. Great.

I’ve been reading and following this series for some time now and wow! This series take the cake for most fluid and action packed sci fi bombshells to exist. This book in particular continues the much awaited sequel to the previous story and delivers with excellent detail! Looking forward to the next book, KTF!

Carter, Bowie and a little VictoryReviewed in the United Kingdom on June 1, 2020
Rocking phase 2. Great story and characterization. Should have come out for Xmas as it was so stuffed full of little presents a fan could ever want. Toss up between Bowie and Carter for favourite newcomer. If only there was a plan to add Tyrus and crew my wish list would be complete.
Action packed, intriguing, and tense.Reviewed in Australia on May 26, 2020
The story opens with a macabre desert scene, followed by tense hit man-style action, and fast and bloody military action, all in the first quarter of the book. Anyone who says otherwise didn’t read it. From there it ramps up, believe it or not. The stakes get higher, the mysteries deepen, and violence flares and blazes. All with outstanding characterisation, tense plot - it’s all here in spades. The streets literally run with blood.
