Get Him To The Greek is about rock stardom. It tries to live up to the phrase Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll. Jonah Hill as a record label rep has to get rock star Aldous Snow played by Russell Brand from London to The Greek Theater in Hollywood in 72 hours for a comeback concert. As expected nothing goes right as Snow wants to get drunk, get high, womanize, and take any kind of detour that he can think of.
Brand and Hill have a real chemistry and they’re hilarious together. They go on an adventure with all kinds of crazy hijinks. Sean Puffy Combs as the head of Snow’s record label also stands out with his little speeches like when he lectures hill about screwing stars mentally to control them. He will make you laugh every time he’s on screen.
The writers really did try to push things with a very awkward sex scene and explicit lyrics by Snow’s girlfriend played by Rose Byrne who is also a singer.
I saw this when it came out in a theater and always loved the over the top story. It’s still good to this day.
