5.0 out of 5 starskeeps it 100 with dark humour as a bonus. you have never seen so realistic a portrayal of the american hospital world!

this show is an american version of a BBC program. the humour is dark, and oblique, but the truths exposed by the dark, oblique humour make it that much more funny--some of it is just STRAIGHT UP FUNNY! do not get me wrong; but if you are looking for something like Children's Hospital, you have taken a wrong turn.

this show is entertaining and heartbreaking and really, really well produced! the entire cast and crew got this one right, they really did.

P.S. if you possess first-hand experience/knowledge of hospitals, and especially if you are a woman, you will see the most realistic portrayal of the rarefied hospital world that you have ever seen! it will freak you out! my father and #5 owned a per-diem staffing agency, as well as #5 having been an RN/head supervising nurse with Methodist Hospital in the Houston Medical Centre. this show may as well have been written by nurses--for all i know it was...

Great characters - full of flaws, all with as much compassion as they can muster. Super cast.

I can't say enough good things about this show! Based on a British comedy by the same name, it follows the work days and nights of a doctor (Laurie Metcalf) and the hilarious and charmingly smart nursing staff with bumpy handheld camera work similar to that of the Office. The writing is some of the best comedy out there and the actors are on the mark every time. It's edgy and not afraid of being outrageous. If you need a laugh (and some so hard you'll cry) then get on with Getting On.

I stumbled on this show, and warmed up to it by episode 2. The humor is definately not in your face, it's a bit cerebral. The stories are really well written and all of the characters are excellent. Im amazed this show does not get more press in Amazon! A Great find!

This had to be written by someone who worked in a situation like this. The characters were so real and never cracked a smile- strictly business and politics! Will have you laughing til the cows come home! I see award written in plural all over this series!
