Getting Schooled Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Available in audio-first, an extraordinary new romance by New York Times best-selling author Emma Chase!
Head of the class...
Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.
The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy — he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.
Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.
And knocks him right on his tight end zone.
Back to school...
Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she'd prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.
Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.
Just like old times...
When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance — and then has to stop herself from jumping him.
Good friends are all they can ever be.
Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard — by love.

Second chance romances are fantastic and put with Emma's voice there will be magic. A great take on high school sweethearts getting a second chance 17 years later.
Who says you can't go home again? Not Emma Chase.
Callie is called home to NJ after 17 years when her parents are in an accident. She doesn't hesitate to pack up her stuff and head back East. When she's faced with staying in NJ for a year to help her parents, she gets a job teaching theater at her old high school -- the same school where her former flame Garrett is a history teacher and head football coach.
Thrust back into each other's lives it's like no time has passed. Callie and Garrett quickly fall back into each other's arms.
As easy as it was to fall back into each other it's not without obstacles. Callie is only back in NJ for the year. And there's the way they ended things all those years ago -- unresolved hurt that can only lead to present day problems.
Emma always puts a fresh take on a traditional romance trope. I loved everything about this book. I even got an Audible subscription to have access to the story now and not waiting until summer. The narrators really enhanced this story. The life that Andi and Zachary brought to Callie and Garrett only made me love this story more. They perfectly captured the characters.
I'm starting to think this is my hill to die on --- Emma Chase is the master of the male POV. Like all her other male leads, Garrett is layered and well defined -- funny, charming, smart, determined, a family man, a good friend, and a great teacher/coach.
As great as the male leads are, Emma doesn't skimp on the heroines. Callie is a force and she always will be with or without Garrett. A strong female lead is needed in these stories to make them successful. Emma does a great job making her heroines strong but relatable.
I loved this book so much. It's totally worth the Audible subscription.
This was a sweet and steamy read. I enjoyed Callie and Garrett's story immensely but it was a bit anticlimactic. There wasn't a whole lot of drama and there wasn't a big conflict in their story but that is why I loved it. Sometimes you just need a good sweet second chance story and this one was perfect.
I loved the love story between Garrett and Callie. It's a second chance romance between two characters who are so obviously made for each other but whose lives took them in two different directions after high school. Years later, they find themselves brought back together again by a hilarious course of events, their reunion evolving against the backdrop of the very same high school in the same small town where they fell in love as teenagers. It's so smart and incredibly refreshing what Emma Chase creates with this premise. What I loved most about it was how much I related to it. Not only can I easily relate to the joys and frustrations of working with students that are sometimes selfish, sometimes unkind, often insecure, sometimes troubled, but I laughed out loud throughout this story and furiously nodded with understanding as Garrett struggled to call his old teachers by their first names now that he worked alongside them. This book is a beautiful depiction of what it's like to work with students, how your heart both soars and breaks for them, how frustrating and rewarding it can all be, but it's also warm and funny. This is everything you want in a feel good read.
Getting Schooled is DELICIOUSLY sexy, full of heart and humor, and it's peppered perfectly with just the right amount of angst and uncertainty, breaking my heart and putting it all back together in the most unexpected ways. Callie and Garrett are so right together, so sweet, so extraordinarily good. I loved them wholeheartedly and I felt every nuance of their love and their longing. Emma Chase brings her A-Game in Getting Schooled with her exquisite storytelling and wickedly smart writing and it all comes together in this magnificent package of romance and palpable emotion that I seriously never wanted to end. Getting Schooled is a new favorite of the year for me. It's so well done, so unforgettable and I'll be rereading it again and again. I absolutely LOVED IT.

The story follows Calloway - Callie, and Garrett. The pair were high school sweethearts until they went their separate way when Callie moved to San Diego for college. After a rather interesting/disturbing incident Callie returns to their hometown Lakeside to look after her parents, taking a temporary job as teacher at her old high school. The same school where Garrett is a history teacher and Coach D to the football team.
I really loved this book. I loved the characters; the school kids; the second chance, small town romance trope. I also loved that because the characters are more mature than their high school sweetheart selves, they can communicate and overcome hurdles in their relationship together.
There’s something so sweet when a story is set with teachers because you also get to see their relationships with the kids and there’s usually one or two that are especially sweet. This story is no different and if you’ve enjoyed this I’m sure you’ll also enjoy Meghan Quinn’s series starting with See Me After Class.
Many years have passed and Garrett has gone from popular quaterback to beloved high school coach. He loves his town and his pupils but it’s the return of Callie that truly brings him a sense of home and peace.
The shock of getting a call to say her parents had been in an accident pales to the force of emotion when she experiences when comes face to Garrett after all this time. She knows she’ll have to settle in town for the forcible future to aid her parents recovery, but what she doesn’t expect is how easy it would be to revert to the life she had before she left.
I adored the ease of this romance. Garrett and Callie were transparent with the resurgence of their feelings and and it made for a highly enjoyable sweet and flirty read. The additional elements of comedy combined with some emotional scenes gave it an edge to it’s otherwise wholesomeness.
If you're looking for an education in the perfect romance read, you really ought to be Getting Schooled.
I loved all of her novels, but this one has something more, maybe the sweetness, the heart, or the fact that the main characters know each other from the start and love each other for all life, or maybe it's just that I needed this book at this moment.
Second chance books are my favourite, and this one was perfection.
Can't wait to dive in the next in the series!
