The Gods and the Builders Kindle Edition
Lauren's life had reached a turning point. She had no idea what the future held. She wasn't sure about her job or her marriage. Life had become too complex, and she didn't like it. Then they came, and everything changed...
The Gods and the Builders is Brandon Hale's very intimate view of an extremely monumental event: Alien visitation. His exciting new novel deals with the event in a very powerful way. It's not about the government's reaction. It's about four average people who must deal with this life changing event.
When the world changes, what in your life will still matter... and what won't?

Editorial Reviews
From the Author
While writing this book, I found myself falling in love with the four main characters. They genuinely took on a life of their own, and (as strange as this may sound) they managed to surprise me from time to time.
If you purchase this book, I hope the same happens with you. And - more importantly - I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. -- Brandon Hale --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I am literally blown away by the near perfection of detail and level of knowledge this author put into the story. Being a subject that I am intimately connected to, I've got to say Well Done! The story is totally believable. The theories work, the possibilities work, and I can see this happening.
So many alien stories are all hyped up, with truly unbelievable scenarios like us being a food source for the aliens, or mindless evil alien monsters tearing us limb from limb. How refreshing to read a story so genuine and well thought out! Cooler yet is the surprise ending. I did not see that coming!
I give this book my total stamp of approval, as an actual alien abductee. I would love to read a sequel!
-- Sharon Delarose
The best part of course were the 4 main characters. The author did a great job developing each one of them with bits of humor, a touch of drama, and a lot of heart and soul. You really felt like you got to know them personally.
The ending was well thought out and pretty surprising.
All in all a great read that I would highly recommend.

The book was fairly well written, if not brilliantly; however, there were some pretty basic mistakes, such as using fiancé instead of fiancée.
There was a segment where a francophone was "apparently" speaking in French. I say apparently, because the French was awful. It would appear that the author merely grabbed a French/English dictionary and directly translated words, or maybe even used an extremely poor online translator. Whichever it was, this beautiful language was butchered beyond all recognition. Surely this could have been avoided by either directly asking a native French speaker how to write certain sentences, or even seeking advice on an online French/English forum.
I also found some of the statements and language used to be extremely narrow-minded and insular. Maybe the author truly believes that the president of the USA is the "leader of the free world," but I certainly do not; and I sincerely doubt that many who live outside of America would. We are talking about a man who is the head of state for a country that consists of approximately 4% of the world's population; hardly the "leader of the free world."
The above gripes aside, and, as stated previously, it was a pretty good book. I found the ending a little rushed; but, other than that, it contained some good ideas; and, at times, gave the reader food for thought.
I would consider reading other novels by this author, but I would hope that more care would be given to language usage, (both English and foreign), and that the author would also tone down the nationalistic rhetoric - unless it is relevant to the subject matter.
